CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) – Voters in West Virginia are reacting to President Joe Biden’s withdrawal from the 2024 presidential race.

The news came on Sunday when Biden posted a statement on social media declaring he would not run for re-election and endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic Party’s nominee.

“It’s not really a shock because I’ve heard things about it and people say, ‘Oh, he should,’ and people say, ‘Oh, it’s too late,'” said Sydney Hatfield, a voter from West Virginia. “So, I kind of get it, but it’s also kind of, you know, a little scary.”

“I’m surprised to hear the news that President Biden is dropping out, but I feel like maybe he was a little too old for the job,” said Zach Brovar, a voter from West Virginia. “I’m curious to see who runs as a Democrat, but I know we’re moving in that direction and away from the division of the Republican Party.”
