CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) – Delegates from West Virginia, Ohio and Kentucky have endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic presidential nominee for this November.
The states that have shown their support for Harris are enough to give her the votes she needs to become the party’s nominee. Fourteen states, American Samoa, the Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands have not endorsed Harris as of Tuesday afternoon.
Democrats in West Virginia also criticized Republicans’ demand that President Joe Biden resign from office immediately.
“Senator Capito and Attorney General Morrisey are being completely ridiculous and they know it. They’re playing politics. Look at the Republican Party, they don’t know which way they want to go right now. Half of them are saying the president needs to resign and the other half are suing to keep him on the ballot. So what is it?” said Del. Mike Pushkin (D) Kanawha and chairman of the state party.
There was up-to-date video of President Biden showing him preparing to leave Delaware for Washington DC on Tuesday. It is the first video of him in public since he was diagnosed with COVID-19 last week, just days before he ended his re-election campaign.
Democrats say they are eager to hear what the president will say when he addresses the nation from the White House on Wednesday night. Biden will explain why he ended his campaign and endorsed Harris for the top job.
Reporters shouted questions to President Biden on Tuesday. One wanted to know how he was doing. The president replied, “Good,” and gave a thumbs up.
