Following the July 13 assassination attempt to kill former President and Republican nominee Donald Trump, the Trump campaign seems confident that it will continue to move forward. Despite some polls, Trump is still 1.7 points ahead of Vice President and likely Democratic nominee Kamala Harris nationally. These polls were conducted shortly after President Joe Biden’s decision to withdraw from his re-election bid, so the polls are largely due to his removal as the front-runner. The Trump campaign knows it still has a fight ahead of it, but it is in the process of building a Cabinet. Several Republican senators are in the position to take these places.

Republican allies of former President Trump expect that he will recruit many members of the Senate Republican Conference when filling his Cabinet if he is re-elected to a second term in November. Bill Hagerty (Tennessee), Tom Cotton (Ark.), Marco Rubio (Florida) and Tommy Tuberville (Ala.) in the competition for top jobs.

Republicans are confident about Trump’s chances against Vice President Harris in November, and there is much excitement about who might take over the leadership of the Treasury, Defense, State and Education departments if Trump wins.

Although he is still a newcomer to the Senate, Trump’s choice of MO Senator Eric Schmitt as Attorney General is almost a guarantee. Schmitt is a pioneer of Murthy V. Missouri The lawsuit against government collaboration with Big Tech has distinguished him as a vigorous defender of freedom and a robust ally against the Deep State. Schmitt has also taken robust positions on the rule of law and separation of powers.

Sources are touting Senator Tommy Tuberville of Alabama for Education Secretary. However, he would make more sense as Secretary of Defense. Tuberville is a staunch advocate for our fighting men and against the woke and transgender ideology that cripples military readiness. Tuberville has also almost single-handedly opposed the Defense Department’s abortion tourism. Some consider Senator Tom Cotton of Arkansas the clearer choice because of his extensive and decorated military background. He sits on the Senate Armed Services Committee and has a keen understanding of the importance of a robust national defense and the actions of the current administration that have hampered it.

Senator Bill Hagerty of Tennessee is being proposed for Treasury Secretary because he had a successful career in the private sector at a public company. His connections as Treasury Secretary to then-presidential candidate Mitt Romney in 2012 may not be in his favor, but he is miles ahead of swamp creatures like former Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, who did Trump no favors in his first term.

As vice chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, Senator Marco Rubio of Florida has already distinguished himself as a well-read statesman and combatant on intelligence, foreign policy, and Chinese infiltration and aggression. Rubio is being talked about as a possible CIA director, director of national intelligence, or secretary of state.

Trump’s robust surrogate, South Carolina Senator Tim Scott, is being considered for both Secretary of Housing and Urban Development and Secretary of Health and Human Services because of his robust business experience in the insurance industry and his work with the first Trump administration in establishing Opportunity Zones.

Note that none of these senators are on the ballot for re-election in 2024. They also come from secure Republican states, and in the event of a Trump victory, should they be confirmed, some of them would be replaced by gubernatorial appointees. These are crucial factors given the Republicans’ battle to retake the Senate in 2024.
