The Democratic Party. God bless them. As the saying goes, they could “screw up a funeral with two cars”? Yes, that’s true. This is a perfect example.

CNN clown – er, host – Van Jones told fellow CNN host – er, host – Jim Acosta on Tuesday that Kamala Harris’ choice of Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her vice presidential candidate was nothing more than an appeal to “the dark side” of the Democratic Party, aka “anti-Jewish bigots.” And you know what? Good for Jones.

Acosta opened the festivities by asking Jones what he thought about Harris choosing Walz over Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro (D) and whether he thought it was “a little risky” that Harris did not choose Shapiro.

Jones replied:

Hey, listen to the conservatives, the right-wing Republicans, they bit their fingernails down to their knuckles because they were afraid of a Josh Shapiro.

How can I say this tactfully? Oh, hell no, we weren’t. And even better, we now have target-rich Walz to tear apart.

Jones, in any case, had only just started and went on to say that Muslims and Arabs “felt ignored by the Biden administration” and that was the reason Harris chose Walz. “People don’t want to talk about it – we need to talk about it.”

He then described Walz’s election as a blatant appeasement of “anti-Semitism,” while praising Shapiro.

Look, Josh Shapiro is a class act from start to finish. He’s a rising star in this party. He’s done an extraordinary job. He gets votes from Republicans, from independent voters, from moderate voters, the Smurfs vote for him, the Muppets vote for him, I mean, the guy is a vote magnet and there’s a reason for that. He’s a class act.

He’s a real American, and he’s going to show up and he’s going to — On the one hand, there are a lot of youthful people who are worried about Gaza. There are a lot of Muslims and Arabs and others who feel ignored by the Biden administration. You heard the joke about the genocide that was spreading, and so those people needed a candidate they could feel comfortable with. This helps him in that regard.

But there is also anti-Semitism that has seeped into this party. You can be pro-Palestinian without being an anti-Jewish fanatic. But there are some anti-Jewish fanatics out there, and there is some unrest now, and there has to be. How much of what just happened is bringing down some of those darker parts of the party? So this needs to be clarified and discussed.

Dude, yeah.

Oddly enough, Jones said these things need to be “worked out” and praised Shapiro, saying he has a “great future in this party.” Don’t get me wrong; Jones was mostly right, but the screwed-up Democratic Party is an oxymoronic mess.

The conclusion

There is no more steadfast ally of Israel in the world than the Republican Party of the United States. Yet Jewish Americans overwhelmingly vote Democratic, and people like Barack Obama, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris blame Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the Jewish state at every opportunity.

Imagine that.
