When a lie is spread about a Republican that even Jim Acosta can’t get away with, you know it was bad, and what the top surrogate Senator for Kamala Harris, Tina Smith (D-MN), said on CNN was The outrageous.

During her appearance on Acosta’s show Wednesday morning, Smith attempted to hot up to Tim Walz, recently nominated by Kamala Harris as her running mate. She began by describing the Minnesota governor’s time in the National Guard (omitting one very critical detail) and then joked that she was “not aware of any military service that JD Vance has ever performed.”

SMITH: So here’s Tim Walz, who enlisted at 17. He served in the National Guard for 24 years, and I’m not aware of any military service that JD Vance ever did, so let’s just draw a comparison.
And what happened in the tragedy of the killing of George Floyd and the subsequent riots…
ACOSTA: Well, he was in the Marines, but…
SMITH: Yeah, okay. Sorry about that.
I have a strenuous time giving Acosta any credit here, since he waited so long to intervene and didn’t question her about why she made that statement, instead letting her continue after a lukewarm correction.
Still, I find this very telling. Think about the consequences of this “mistake.” Tina Smith, a key surrogate for Kamala Harris, is so shielded by the left-wing press bubble that she didn’t even know that Vance had served in the military. And was deployed to Iraq. If you only watch CNN and MSNBC, how would you know? They never talk about it, and they certainly won’t talk about the scandals surrounding Walz’s military service, including his desertion from his unit shortly before deployment.
Smith, who is Ivy League educated, is the epitome of left-wing ignorance. It’s obvious she rehearsed that line before the broadcast, ready to drop it in front of all the clapping seals in the audience she assumed would see her. She didn’t even bother to do basic research on the man she was trying to smear. What does that say about her as a person? I’d say it doesn’t say anything good.
This is what happens when a country’s press decides to promote a presidential candidacy while obscuring the other side of the coin. I don’t think Smith said that on purpose. I think Really is just mindless and ill-informed, and despite Acosta’s gentle interjection, CNN has a lot to do with it.
