CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) – Senator Joe Manchin (I-WV) is joining in on the “Brat Summer” trend at the State Fair of West Virginia.

Sen. Manchin posted on X, formerly Twitter“I’m having a great summer at the State Fair of West Virginia – how about you?” In the photo, the senator can be seen on a green tractor.

“Brat Summer” refers to Charli XCX’s latest record, “Brat.” The album’s cover features a dazzling lime green background with Arial text, which has been used in memes since the record’s release.

Having a “Brat Summer” basically means having a good time despite all the hustle and bustle that lies ahead.

The album has taken on a life of its own since President Joe Biden dropped out of the 2024 presidential race and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris.

Since that day, Charli XCX posted on X: “Kamala IS a brat.” After that, the Kamala HQ X account changed its cover photo to the “Brat” album cover with the text “kamala hq.”

This has become a major meme among fans of the Kamala/Walz presidential candidacy. Some have made videos of Harris’ speeches and synced them to songs on Charli XCX’s album. Most famously, Harris’ comments on “Coconut Tree” are set to music from “365,” the final track on “Brat.”

Senator Manchin is not seeking re-election in 2024. Republican Governor Jim Justice, Democratic Mayor of Wheeling Glenn Elliott and Libertarian David Moran are running for his seat.
