According to Decision Desk HQ, Sen. Deb Fischer (R-Neb.) is expected to win her Republican primary.

Fischer is running for a third term in the upper house and easily survived the GOP contest against farmer Arron Kowalski.

There is no Democrat running against the Nebraska Republican, but independent candidate Dan Osborn, a former union leader, wants to run against her in the fall. There are also two Legal Marijuana Now Party candidates running against each other in the primary to take on Fischer in the general strike.

Political strategists say it’s an uphill climb for Osborn given Fischer’s approval within the state and the headwinds that come from running as a nonpartisan.

The nonpartisan election watcher Cook Political Report rates Fischer’s seat as “solidly Republican.”
