For the rational among us, left-wing independent filmmaker Michael Moore is a mess. Sure, he’s made some decent movies, but he’s not exactly left-wing when it comes to politics. And now that Kamala Harris is the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, Mr. Moore is pretty damn hilarious — if neurotic.
While many on the right believe that Donald Trump can only lose the 2024 presidential election, Moore disagrees. He is now warning his fellow Democrats: “We can only lose it.”
Moore told According to The Guardian, while the Democratic Party is riding a wave of optimism after Joe Biden finally withdrew from the race, he is concerned about how long the “pink cloud” – a reference to heroin addicts – will last.
This is not just a sugar rush or something [recovering] Heroin addicts call it a pink cloud. It was so depressing for so many weeks and then suddenly it wasn’t depressing anymore. I’m hopeful now, but it’s up to us to screw it up – and we’ve tried to screw it up many times before.
Moore has been here before.
In his 2016 film “Michael Moore in Trumpland,” he warned Democrats that Donald Trump was likely to beat Hillary Clinton because Trump’s message appealed to disenfranchised voters in Michigan and other swing states. In 2020, in “X,” he warned that enthusiasm for Trump was “boundless” and implored Democrats to stick together if they wanted to win. The rest is history.
At this point in the Guardian interview, Moore drove the Kamala train into the ditch, saying how cheerful he was that Harris had chosen Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her vice presidential running mate. But he also said he understood why some Democrats were nervous that the Harris-Walz ticket could collapse.

Nevertheless, Moore claimed:
I understand why people are nervous, it could be a sugar rush, but Harris and Walz are people of substance. They are leisurely and cautious enough to get it right. It’s only been a couple of weeks. They need to tell us what they’re going to do and hopefully get it right. And there will be mistakes.
Oh, these are real people of substance, Michael.
The question is, what kind of substance? The content of “communist price controls”? The content of stolen bravery? The content of a radical agenda that the Democrats are practically begging her to hide until the election is over – assuming she wins?

Moore praised Harris’ decision to stay away from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s speech to Congress last month and urged her to continue to appeal to the party’s anti-Israel base. How true. Then it got even dumber.
“Young people hate war and they are completely against Biden and his support of war,” Moore said. Memo to Michael: All decent people hate war, fool. The wise among us understand that sometimes war must be fought to avoid worse wars in the future, and that horrific attacks must not go unpunished – for obvious reasons.
How to defeat Trump
This is Moore’s specialty, plagued by Stage 4 Trump Derangement Syndrome.
Once someone is that thin-skinned, anything can happen. On live TV? Trump could explode, start talking like a 12-year-old (no offense to 12-year-old) or get up and leave.
But nail it with irony, satire, and a elementary way of pointing out the beyond odd, absolute idiocy and insanity of what these two men are talking about. Reach it on a reasonable level so it doesn’t matter if you’re a Democrat or a Republican.
My gut feeling is that if Trump could focus on winning the votes he didn’t get in 2020 and worry less about his true electorate (who go everywhere), then I would be confident about his chances in November.
In this respect, I still believe that Trump can lose the election, Mr. Moore.
