No, he didn’t stop because it would distract him. He stopped because he was afraid they would attack him – because he knew enough about Nancy Pelosi and how she operated. He knew she would up the ante on her nastiness to finish him off, and he didn’t want to shake the perception of his legacy in his mind.
So much for decades of “friendship” or votes from voters. Even Maureen Dowd of the New York Times called it a “coup.” Meanwhile, Pelosi is telling the public that he is so essential that he deserves to be on Mount Rushmore. This shows that nothing the Democrats have to say is trustworthy; they only care about saying or doing anything to stay in power. It’s difficult to believe how anyone could watch this all unfold and still vote for one of these people, on top of all the bad policies they have implemented to harm the American people.
To show what hypocrites they are, they plan to give him a huge send-off on Monday night. Then they will try with all their might to distance Kamala Harris from the failings of the Biden-Harris administration, which will be a clever ploy.
