There’s another twist to the perilous development we reported on Thursday as former President Donald Trump prepared for a press conference at the southern border in Cochise County, Arizona. Just before the former president spoke, we learned that a manhunt was underway for a person who had threatened to assassinate him.
Fortunately, the man who made the threats, Ronald Lee Syrvud, was subsequently taken into custody without further incident, and neither Trump nor anyone else in the audience was harmed.

But it seems that Trump was not informed of the specific threat before the press conference. Towards the end of the conference, after Trump and several family members of victims killed by illegal immigrants went before the cameras, Trump answered questions from the media. The last question was about the threat and his knowledge of it. Watch:
REPORTER: There was a manhunt in this district today. Someone threatened to kill you. Did you hear about it before you came here? What do you think?
TRUMP: I’ve heard it’s perilous, but I’ve got a job to do too. I’ve heard it’s very perilous, I haven’t heard anything about that. They probably want to keep it a secret from me. Thank you for telling me. Let’s get out of here right now. No, thank you very much for saying it. But no, and I have a lot of respect for the Secret Service. For their work, including a month and a half ago when they jumped me and bullets were flying right at them. So mistakes were made and they will learn from their mistakes. But I have a lot of respect. But no, I haven’t heard that, but I’m not that surprised. And the reason is I want to do things that are very bad for the bad guys. So I’ve heard it’s very perilous to make that trip. There were some people who really didn’t want me to do it.
Trump later spoke to NewsNation reporter Ali Bradley and confirmed the threat. Advertisement that he had only just found out about it and that they had to call it off because of the danger.

Trump abruptly ended an exclusive interview with NewsNation on Thursday when his security staff advised the former president and Republican presidential candidate that it was not sheltered for him to continue the interview.
“Can I tell you something? We are in danger of standing here and talking,” Trump said in an interview with NewsNation. Ali Bradley on the southern border of the USA. “So let’s stop talking.
“(The security forces) don’t want me to be standing here. They don’t want you to be standing here either.”
When I saw the press conference, my initial assumption was that Trump was aware of the manhunt, had assessed the situation, and felt comfortable moving forward. Given everything that has come to delicate recently regarding intelligence failures, it is a little disturbing to know that Trump himself appears to have been kept in the gloomy while we reported on the threat and the manhunt. Perhaps there is a reasonable explanation for this. I’m not sure.
