Among the numerous lies spread by Kamala Harris and her supporters at their gaslighting convention in Chicago last week, her promise to advance border security was the most ridiculous. Texas Democratic Rep. Veronica Escobar ridiculous nonsense was a perfect example.
All the Republicans have to offer is demonization and bluster. With Kamala Harris as president, we can fulfill the promise of America. We can strengthen legal pathways to immigration. We can secure our borders and treat with dignity those who seek a better future there.
And what, Exactly, Is that the “promise of America,” Ms. Escobar? I would argue that it is primarily about protecting our borders – and protecting our citizens from harm by bad people who are in this country illegally and who are up to bad things.
It is a wise rule of thumb to ignore what the Democrats say and watch what they do.
In a Prime exampleThe Citizenship Office of the Biden-Harris Department of Homeland Security has issued an urgent call for volunteers to support process applications to reinstate a fraudulent program that allows unauthorized illegal aliens (as defined by existing US immigration law) from some Latin American countries – including Cuba – to bypass the border farce and fly directly to the United States.
What could possibly go wrong?
The program, which funneled more than half a million illegal immigrants — who don’t have valid visas — into the U.S., was abruptly halted several weeks ago after an internal review uncovered massive fraud. I know, but try to contain your shock and amazement. Now, with no explanation, immigration officials are trying to force a quick restart.
In an emailed call for volunteers, Donna Campagnolo, USCIS’s chief human capital officer, said the agency is looking for volunteers through the end of this week. I’m going to go out on a limb and bet “Border Czar” Kamala isn’t available for comment.
Campagnolo wrote in the email:
This is a full-time, remote assignment for 180 days. No previous experience is required. Training will be provided and overtime may be possible.
Let’s think about this for a moment.
It’s one thing when would-be immigrants show up at the U.S. border and apply for asylum. It’s quite another when the U.S. government – courtesy of U.S. taxpayers, of course – proactively flies to Latin American countries. Shuttle service to catch as many illegals as possible. Yes, Joe and Kamala have done that, and they will start doing it again soon.
Emilio Gonzalez, who headed USCIS under President George W. Bush and received the email, said This was a disturbing move for a program that had to be paused due to massive fraud.
This administration is determined to go through with this program regardless of the consequences. That’s what’s troubling from a national security perspective. You’re telling me that in, what, four weeks you’ve uncovered massive fraud and you’re ready to start all over again?
Ahh, Mr. Gonzalez, they’re not going to tell you or me – or anyone else. They’re going to do what they’ve been doing for three and a half years: They’re going to get away with as much as they can and import as many illegal aliens as they can – for as long as they can.
USCIS has not disclosed what steps it is taking to stop the fraud.

Finally, Joseph Edlow, the agency’s acting director in the Trump administration, said said Recruiting volunteers without proper training to serve as immigration officers is a sign that USCIS is not making the right corrections.
This eliminates the chance of fraud detection. Having employees who have nothing to do with the agency’s immigration work review forms in the hope that they will either uncover fraud or make a decision or review, in this case whether or not someone is eligible, is ridiculous.
Yes, Mr. Edlow, it certainly is.
