Senator JD Vance (R-OH) highlighted one of the major problems with the way Democrats are trying to win over voters, and he hit the nail on the head.

In an exclusive interview with Breitbart NewsThe vice presidential candidate aptly described how much the Democrats had lost touch with ordinary Americans and criticized their preference for platitudes over substance.

“The Democrats are showing how little they know about the working people of this country because all of their changes are stylistic and have nothing of substance,” Vance told Breitbart News. “Their solution to losing working-class voters, rural voters and veterans is to sell camouflage hats with the names of Kamala Harris and Tim Walz on them. I think if they really wanted to reach the veterans, they could have picked someone who didn’t lie about his military service before running on the Democratic ticket. If they wanted to reach the American workers, they could do things that protect our manufacturing jobs from being stolen by the Chinese. They could pursue energy policies that lower the cost of production and lower the cost of energy for American workers. Instead, they’re trying to reposition themselves stylistically by wearing camouflage hats, but it’s the same old Democratic Party policies that have been very, very bad for working people for a generation.”

Vance took action against Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, Harris’s vice presidential candidate, because Walz had attacked Vance for studying at Yale University.

“It’s funny – Tim Walz is surrounded by a lot of people who went to Yale and a lot of people who were born with a silver spoon in their mouths,” Vance told Breitbart News. “And he wants to attack me because I got an education. I’m not ashamed of being able to live the American dream. I see it more as a testament to the sacrifices of my grandmother and the people who raised me and made me who I am. I don’t think we should make people ashamed of making sacrifices for their children and grandchildren. If Tim Walz wants to attack my educational history, then that’s welcome.”

The senator asked why Walz was running with Harris, who “supports policies that make it harder for American children to live the American dream and make it harder for American parents to afford food and health care.”

“I think what’s going on politically is that they must have seen something in some poll or some focus group that makes people forget that Kamala Harris has been terrible for the American working class. It’s the working class that suffers when you import 20 million illegal aliens and undercut their wages,” Vance added.

Vance hit the nail on the head – he accurately described the problem that Democrats have had for years. In its march to the left, the party has shown a remarkable inability to understand what motivates voters. That’s one reason the Harris/Walz campaign relies on platitudes instead of policy.

It’s almost as if Harris and her team are running a Walmart version of former President Barack Obama’s “Hope and Change” campaign. The problem is that Obama actually had charisma and knew how to strike the right tone with the American people – even if his policies amounted to a giant pile of cow manure.

The Harris/Walz campaign’s over-reliance on “joy” and “happiness” will not aid convince people who are struggling to make ends meet. The difficult truth is that far too many Americans have little reason for joy or happiness in the face of economic woes, crime, and other problems.

Harris’s biggest obstacle is that she has no arguments. She has failed to make an impression during her tenure as vice president. She has not even bothered to present a policy program, probably because most of her proposals would be too far left to appeal to voters.

Vance was intelligent enough to address this, and he should do so in every single interview he gives. The more the Trump campaign can attack Harris’ lack of substance while laying out a vision for America, the better. This is a line of attack that Harris and her allies in the activist media have no way of countering, as it has already become their Achilles heel.
