Former President Trump’s campaign is mocking Vice President Harris for bringing Minnesota Democratic Governor Tim Walz to her first interview since launching her White House bid.
“Last night, CNN announced that Kamala had mustered the courage to come forward for a *joint* interview – after hiding from reporters for 39 days,” the Trump War Room account wrote. on the social platform X.
The post on the campaign account reflected habitual criticism from Trump and his allies that Harris has not given an in-depth interview to any media outlet since President Biden. withdrew from the race and supported them.
Harris and Walz were also criticized for joint interview with CNNwhich, according to the broadcaster, will be broadcast on Thursday at 9 p.m.
“It’s no coincidence that Kamala’s first interview is scheduled for the Thursday night before Labor Day weekend. They’re already hoping it gets lost – and it hasn’t even aired yet. Kamala is obviously afraid to do an interview alone, and it’s pre-recorded so they can sanitize it,” the Trump War Room said. wrote on X.
Trump’s first interview after the Republican convention was a joint interview along with his running mate, Senator JD Vance (R-Ohio), and Fox News’ Jesse Watters.
Harris vowed earlier this month to sit down for a detailed interview until the end of August. The interview with CNN’s Dana Bash comes about a week after Harris officially accepted the Democratic nomination for president, and just over a week before Harris is scheduled to debate Trump on September 10. The former president confirmed on Tuesday that he will appear at the debate after doubts had previously been expressed about the prospect.
When asked for comment on the post, the Harris campaign told The Hill that it is tradition for the candidates to undergo a joint interview.
“For at least 20 years, all candidates, Republican and Democrat, sat down together for a joint interview. The only exception was when Donald Trump cut short his joint interview with 60 Minutes’ Lesley Stahl four years ago because he couldn’t stand her holding him accountable for his extreme, unpopular stance,” Harris campaign spokeswoman Lauren Hitt said in a statement, referring to Trump’s 2020 interview with Lesley Stahl and Vice President Mike Pence in which he went out.
