There are about 10 Senate races to see on Election Day, and not surprisingly, the race between Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO) and his Democratic opponent Lucas Kunce is not one of them – not even on the list of “bonus races to watch” that the New York Times compiled a month ago.
The reasons for this are obvious. Missouri has become a reliably red state, and although there were not many polls in the race between Hawley and Kunce, shows Hawley clearly in the lead, including the most recent poll from mid-August, shows At the start of the autumn election campaign, he is eleven points ahead.

Since the assassination attempt on Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump in July, Hawley has been a man on a mission: to find out why the Secret Service did not protect the former president and why.
On Tuesday, the senator announced that a whistleblower had informed him that “most of the agents at the Trump rally on the day of the assassination were from the Department of Homeland Security, not the Secret Service – and the only training they received was a two-hour online webinar!”
But when Hawley isn’t busy dealing with the abject failures of July 13, he enjoys teasing Kunce, and that’s exactly what happened after a story from the Daily caller to private text messages and emails that show Kunce highly praising Hawley’s actions in the Senate:
Missouri Republican Senator Josh Hawley’s Democratic opponent, Lucas Kunce, has repeatedly praised the senator for his questioning on national security issues, his cross-examinations of corporate executives and his questioning of then-Supreme Court nominee Amy Coney Barrett, according to private messages obtained by the Daily Caller.
Text messages and an email obtained by Caller show Kunce praising Hawley’s “great” “interrogation” of corporate executives such as Microsoft’s Brad Smith. Problems of China and national security. In one text, Kunce wrote: “I’m glad someone else is interested in this topic” and “It was great, yes, he hit the nail on the head.”
Of course, Hawley was thrilled by this news:
Lucas Kunce – I had no idea he was such a fanboy. Thanks for all the support, Lucas! https://t.co/EpfwvDrFJY

Do you know if @LucasKunceMO wanted to be employed by me, then he could have simply applied! https://t.co/EpfwvDsdzw

Ouch!
And speaking of annoying Kunce, that’s exactly what Hawley did during the Governor’s Ham Breakfast event in Missouri in mid-August, when he ran around looking for Kunce and challenged him on the spot to a debate, which Kunce declined:
Reporter: How do you react to [Kunce refusing to debate]?
Josh: I just find it depressed that he doesn’t want to debate. He’s been sitting in his basement for two weeks insulting the Department of Agriculture – in an agricultural state!
Lucas: *shuffles awkwardly in the background and refuses to discuss* pic.twitter.com/YnfPDZEWqX

At the time of writing this article, there were no agreement between the two camps in televised debates, but I have to admit that I would tune in for the comedic value alone. As always, stay tuned!
