W.Va. (WSAZ) – Republicans in West Virginia have chosen Gov. Jim Justice as their top candidate in the fight to turn one U.S. Senate seat red following the retirement of Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin.
Republican Gov. Jim Justice won the GOP primary to replace Manchin, defeating U.S. Rep. Alex Mooney and five other lesser-known candidates.
Manchin has been the only Democrat in West Virginia’s Congress since 2015 and the only statewide Democratic incumbent as of 2021.
