The first and probably only presidential debate between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump is over, and the reactions were quick and fierce.
How did I think it went? Given that I wrote before the debate about the traps the former president should avoid and he fell into virtually all of them, it would be dishonest of me to say I think he did well. I wanted a repeat of the disciplined, chilly and composed Trump we saw against Joe Biden, and that didn’t happen. Whether that helps or hurts him (or changes nothing) will be decided soon enough.
With that said, I could also talk about how historically awful and biased the moderators were. They made Candy Crawley seem straightforward. All the “fact checks” went one way. All the interruptions went one way. All the debriefings went one way. It was so bad that no Republican should ever agree to a debate on ABC News again. Maybe I’ll write more about that in another article.
But what about the substance of the statements? I know the chattering class doesn’t care about the substance, but that doesn’t mean we have to ignore it. In that regard, there was a moment during the debate that caused Democrats to take to social media to slam Donald Trump. It came during the immigration segment, when the former president announced that Haris wanted to employ taxpayer money to provide sex-reassignment surgery for detained illegal immigrants.

There is only one very big, extraordinarily big problem: What Trump said is true.
As RedState reported on Monday, CNN’s K-File recently unearthed an ACLU questionnaire on Kamala Harris’ first presidential bid. literally pledged her support for the employ of taxpayers’ money to perform gender reassignment surgery on detained illegal immigrants And Federal prisoners.

What an absolute own goal by the Democrats. They thought they had a dunk against Trump because not even she recognized how incredibly crazy Harris is. Ultimately, however, their taunts only drew attention to the fact that she is indeed as dangerously radical as Republicans claim.

Harris’ positions are so ridiculous that not even their own supporters believe they are true. Maybe that should lead to a little self-reflection. It won’t, but it should.
