The Democratic Party still has some common sense

Despite what many people may think after reading my articles over the years, there is nothing in me that would allow me to hate Democrats in general. There are people in the party I cannot facilitate but hate with all my heart, but I have known many Democrats throughout my time on Earth, and many of them are decent, well-meaning people.

In the internet age, the most extreme views have been able to take center stage. As a result, we have seen the emergence of racism that we thought had been put aside after the civil rights era, with overt racism against white people, calls for segregation from social justice communities, and racist concepts like “cultural appropriation” coming to the fore.

A Democratic Party leader can literally say “if you don’t vote for me, you’re not black,” or a leftist comedian can literally say she reminded a black man that his blackness prevents him from supporting a Republican, and mainstream Democrats don’t blink an eye.

Today’s mainstream Democrats are fully committed to supporting communist groups like Black Lives Matter, supporting calls to defund the police, and even promoting socialism. Attacks on free speech are pretty standard fare, and the mere thought of getting rid of guns in our country makes them salivate.

Democrats range from adopting extreme elements of the party platform to being what I call “non-practicing Democrats,” that is, people who call themselves Democrats but have no idea about politics and don’t vote at all.

In Congress, they also have some scope, but it is becoming more asymmetrical to the left. Now, even moderates on the left seem more Republican than Democrat.

Take Hawaii congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard. If Gabbard were to run against a Republican in a red state, she would be unlikely to win, but many on the right have warmed to her nonetheless. It’s basic to see why.

While Gabbard differs from right-wing voters on many issues, her views on protecting human rights in America are not bad.

“I strongly support the Supreme Court ruling defending our First Amendment/freedom of religion,” Gabbard tweeted Monday. “While COVID may temporarily require some public health restrictions, houses of worship MUST be treated the same as secular institutions — not more severely/rigorously.”

In just one tweet, Gabbard distanced herself from the far-left that has taken her party by storm. She not only defended the First Amendment, but also spoke out for religious freedom.

West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin also put a foot down to extremists in the party, essentially letting them know there will be no defunding the police or implementing socialism as long as he is in power.

“Defund the police? Defund my ass. I am a proud West Virginia Democrat. We are the party of working men and women,” Manchin tweeted. “We want to protect Americans’ jobs and healthcare. We do not have some crazy socialist agenda and we do not believe in defunding the police.”

Gabbard and Manchin show that even in Democratic circles you can still see traces of America on the left.

Why am I writing this?

Because the iron is scorching to forge a recent Republican Party, and all we have to do is utilize the extremism of the current Democratic Party to pull some Democrats to the right.

While Manchin or Gabbard may never switch sides, some of their supporters may. You can change your views on many issues, whether it’s gun control or abortion. You just have to make the case.

We need to put a spotlight on the extremism and fringe tendencies of the recent Democratic Party, especially now as these fringe elements attempt to present their beliefs and actions as the “new normal.”

There is no “new normal,” just senior tactics by America’s senior enemy that are finally starting to work. Exposing them for what they are could be the final straw that breaks the camel’s back and sends potential Democratic voters to the right.

We won’t win them all, but every vote counts if we want to keep America. Even if it comes from a part of the Democratic Party that still has some common sense left.
