In this episode of “You can’t make this up, they’ve already done it” …

The so-called mainstream media have a habit of either omitting news that discredits or simply refutes the Democrats’ narratives and arguments, or at least wait to report on such news until they have figured out how to portray it as an anti-Trump move. This absurd example has to be seen to be believed.

On Thursday, NBC News outdid itself by first running a report that sharply criticized “the right” for claiming that illegal aliens vote in U.S. elections, only to then admit that there are, in fact, illegal aliens who vote in U.S. elections.”

NBC Nightly News anchor Lester Holt opened the ridiculous segment by reporter Julia Ainsley, as follows:

There are [a] The controversial claim that illegal immigrants vote in American elections is often heard from the right. But is there any evidence for it? Julia Ainsley reports for our VoteWatch.

Spoiler: This reporter, Ainsley, has no business being on a national news show. Anyway, she played a clip of the conversation between Trump and Harris from the presidential debate and added her own commentary.

Ainsley: “On the debate stage” …

Trump:

Many of these illegal immigrants are trying to get them to vote. They are not citizens. They are not allowed to vote. It is absolutely illegal.

Ainsley said: “Former President Trump frequently repeats false claims about immigrant voting rights.”

I don’t mean to be petty, Ms. Ainsley, but Trump’s claim was precisely. Here is an example:

As I reported on September 8, the Ministry of Justice announced that an illegal immigrant has agreed to plead guilty to several charges, namely stealing the identity of a U.S. citizen and illegally voting in several elections, including primaries and general elections:

An undocumented individual has been charged with fraudulently impersonating a U.S. citizen and using that identity to vote in multiple elections and obtain multiple U.S. passports, announced U.S. Attorney Prim F. Escalona and Resident Agent in Charge Joseph R. Wysowaty of the Atlanta Resident Office of the U.S. Department of State’s Diplomatic Security Service (DSS).

A nine-count indictment in U.S. District Court charges Angelica Maria Francisco, 42, most recently of Russellville, with making false statements regarding citizenship in connection with elections, making false statements in an application for a U.S. passport, using a U.S. passport obtained by false statements and aggravated identity theft. A plea agreement was attached to the indictment stating that Francisco has agreed to plead guilty to all counts.

[…]

Under the same false identity, Francisco also registered to vote in Alabama in 2016 and participated in the 2016 and 2020 primary and general elections. … The court will set a date for Francisco to plead guilty.

Ms. Ainsley? Any comment? [Cue the crickets.]

After incorrectly “checking” Trump’s claim, Ainsley set about making a complete fool of herself on national television:

That’s not true. It’s illegal for non-US citizens to vote for president or any other federal election. And there are few documented cases of non-citizens attempting to vote illegally. Nor, experts say, is there evidence of anyone attempting to persuade illegal immigrants to vote.

In these 17 different cities and towns, non-US citizens can also vote locally. In DC, non-citizens, even citizens living in the country illegally, can also vote. local Choose.

Here at this voter registration fair in DC, any DC resident can register to vote, even if they’re not an American citizen. But when they go to the polls, they’ll receive a different ballot, like this one, that lists only local candidates for positions like school board and city council.

Wait.

After both Holt and Ainsley claimed that illegal immigrants should not be allowed to vote in “America’s elections” and that Trump “repeats false claims about immigrants’ right to vote,” Ainsley admits that in some cities (and states) illegal immigrants can vote In Local elections.

And as my report on the Justice Department settlement showed, we have at least one example of an illegal alien voting in the presidential primary and general election. Raise your hand if you think Angelica Maria Francisco is the only illegal alien to have done such a thing.

Ainsley dug deeper, playing a clip of comments from a noncitizen voter and Washington, DC City Council member Charles Allen.

Voter without citizenship: “I have neither a driver’s license nor social security.”

All:

We changed the law to ensure that all local residents have the right to vote and have a say in government and its decisions.

When Ainsley asked Allen, “Could you, for example, register in another country and vote here?” he inadvertently destroyed any credibility she might have had on that section. Allen said:

You would have to be a resident here and have claimed residency for more than 30 days. So we’ve seen hypothetical cases where people throw out things like that, and they just don’t happen.

A notice: Resident is not a Citizens.

Ainsley then put the final nail in the coffin of her credibility with this gem:

The state of Texas says it found nearly 2,000 noncitizens who had previously voted. But it’s unclear whether they have been charged. And liberal advocacy groups are challenging the claims. Still, the laws allowing noncitizens to vote locally have sparked backlash across the country, fueling Trump’s claim that migrants were voting widely. Elon Musk and conservative media hosts have echoed that claim, inspiring a bill requiring proof of citizenship for voter registration.

Then the reporter’s illusion burst when Florida Republican Senator Rick Scott demolished:

Once you see the form, all you have to do is check a box, which means non-citizens are on the voter rolls.

Ainsley’s final comment couldn’t have been more humiliating – which I’m sure didn’t bother her in the slightest – as she made a U-turn on her first comment:

Voting rights are in the spotlight even more as the election approaches. Julia Ainsley, NBC News, Washington.

Journalism. The lapdog media sometimes have a tough time.
