David DePape, the illegal immigrant who entered California lawmaker and former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s Napa Valley home in October 2022 and bashed Pelosi’s husband Paul with a hammer, has been sentenced 30 years in prison.

Paul Pelosi’s attacker, David DePape, was sentenced to 30 years in prison on Friday after being convicted of assault and attempted kidnapping of a federal officer.

Prosecutors had threatened 40 years in prison, according to the BBC reported.

In the incident in October 2022, DePape attacked Pelosi, now 84, with a hammer at his home in San Francisco. He was looking for Paul’s wife, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Paul suffered a fractured skull and injuries to his arm.

Justice has been served, even if the sentence imposed on DePape seems unreasonably harsh (prosecutors demanded 40 years in prison), especially since DePape is seriously mentally ill. It is also fortunate that Paul Pelosi is doing well after the operation and hospitalization and was able to testify in the trial.

No one should be violently attacked, especially not in their own home.

I can’t aid but think of the other crime victims in California who are not only still waiting for justice, but are also still suffering the aftermath of their attackers or grieving the irresponsible loss of a loved one. District attorneys like Pamela Price of Alameda County and George Gascón of Los Angeles County have made a cottage industry out of tolerant sentences for violent and repeat offenders. The majority of crime victims have neither the notoriety nor the resources of the Pelosis, so our two-tier justice system is evident here. The advantage always lies with those who are well positioned, well connected and well heeled. This latest information about DePape also shines a harsh airy on how the illegal criminals flooding our border are being dealt with…or not.

The Department of Homeland Security in November 2022 confirmed that DePape was in the United States illegally and overstayed his visa based on allegations from Canada.

Maybe we should make David DePape and the Pelosi attack a demonstration of the harms of illegal immigration, not Jose Ibarra, the Venezuelan illegal who was released into the country to rape and murder Laken Riley. That will lead to better action than we are currently dealing with the mess at the southern border.

California Rep. Bill Essayli (R-Riverside) plans to force a floor vote on AB2641, which aims to end sanctuary protections in California and require law enforcement to comply with ICE in resolving a convicted person To arrest, transfer or inform the authorities about the release of sexual crimes against minors.

Angel Mom and 2020 U.S. Congressional candidate Agnes Gibboney is a legal immigrant whose own son was murdered by an illegal immigrant in the family’s California driveway. She speaks out against California’s sanctuary state policy said“They only protect a certain class of people… and that’s a disgrace.”

The trial, conviction and sentencing of DePape clearly show that the average Californian and the average American are not the people they want to protect, let alone seek justice.
