After ignoring the border crisis for years despite her appointment as “border czar,” Vice President Kamala Harris is finally traveling to the southern border again to convince the nation that she really wants to solve the crisis.
I’ll give you a minute to finish laughing.
All clear? Okay, let’s move on.
Former President Donald Trump mocked Harris after reports emerged about her planned visit.
Speaking to supporters in Georgia, Trump addressed reports that Harris would travel to Arizona on Friday to see the border for the first time as the Democratic candidate.
“She’s going to the border very soon. She hasn’t been there in four years,” Trump said of Harris, adding that she had “done nothing” during her tenure as vice president.
“If Kamala is seen at the border on Friday, she will be passing through hundreds of miles of the wall built by Trump, and it is a wall that really works,” he added.
But the criticism did not end there. Campaign websiteHis team pointed out Harris’ incompetence on the border issue and called her upcoming visit “a fraud.”
No last-minute visit by Kamala Harris to the southern border this week – her first in 1,187 days and the clearest indication yet of her humiliating desperation – can hide the unbearable destruction she has brought upon innocent Americans.
This is a fraud. Kamala opened the door to tens of millions of illegal immigrants from the worst parts of the world, importing violent criminals, terrorists, and gang members who robbed Americans of their jobs, homes, and sense of security.
Several others, including former Border Patrol Chief Rodney Scott and CNN commentator Scott Jennings, criticized the vice president for pretending to care about immigration issues in featherlight of the upcoming election.

It should not be forgotten that Vice President Harris herself created the crisis when she deliberately encouraged people from all over the world to enter the United States illegally and then released them after they had entered the country illegally. https://t.co/pNeqRA9qRB

Immigration is a pressing issue for voters, especially after President Joe Biden and Harris took office. Shortly thereafter, droves of illegal immigrants and asylum seekers began traveling to the southern border to enter the United States. The influx has overwhelmed major cities across the country as well as border towns.
Trump and others on the right have repeatedly criticized the Biden-Harris administration for its failure to address the problem. During her tenure as vice president, Harris visited the southern border only once – after a barrage of criticism from left and right. She has repeatedly gave absurd excuses for neglecting the situation on the southern border.
Trump and Republicans have blamed Ms. Harris for the vast number of migrants entering the United States from Mexico in recent years. Early in his administration, Biden tasked Ms. Harris with addressing the root causes of migration from Latin America.
But she has struggled in the role and faced criticism after, when asked by NBC News anchor Lester Holt in a 2021 interview why she had not yet visited the southern border, she replied that she had “never been to Europe” either. The Trump campaign has used that exchange in ads attacking her record on immigration. Ms. Harris traveled to the border shortly after her interview with Mr. Holt.
Harris’ visit will likely convince voters that she is grave about the border crisis as much as I am going to win a beauty contest. Voters already know that Trump would be a far better choice on the border if elected. New York Times/Siena poll found that 54 percent supported the former president on the immigration issue, while only 43 percent preferred Harris.
