You have to give them credit: Democratic politicians are consistent in some areas. When they are arrested for some wrongdoing, they always manage to find God. Who can forget Bill Clinton leaving churches during the Lewinsky scandal, always making sure he carried his Bible in the hand closest to the camera? On Sunday, embattled New York City Mayor Eric Adams took the pulpit to express his condolences to the faithful.

On Thursday, Adams was indicted on federal bribery charges, Campaign finance and conspiracy allegations. On Monday, Adams’ The legal department has filed an application reject the accusation of bribery. But in between, Adams made his way to two churches in the Big Apple, where he vowed not to step down but to “rule.” At the Emmanuel Presbyterian Reformed Church in the Bronx, Adams stated firmly:

God placed me in this moment and placed it in my heart to move this city forward. And so you’ll hear the few clamorous people saying, “But he should resign.” No, I’m going to step forward. I won’t resign. I won’t resign. I will rule.

Adams spoke for about 30 minutes and did not answer questions from reporters. Then We went to Staten Island Mt. Sinai United Christian Church. The congregation prayed for Adams and the clergy warned that “storms would arise on his journey.”

Adams replied: “The question is: How true is your belief? I ask the people of this city to continue to dedicate myself to this task.”

However, Adams’ religious pilgrimage began the Friday after his arraignment, where he visited a senior center where Adams prayed with members, a church in Queens where he spoke about “the power of prayer,” and a gospel concert in the Bronx.

The charges against Adams include: that of accepting bribes for luxury trips in exchange for the 36-story Turkevi Center (the Turkish House) passing a New York Fire Department safety inspection despite safety concerns. Federal officials are also investigating whether Turkish officials, some business leaders and other individuals were involved in both Adams’ 2021 and 2025 mayoral campaigns. However, court documents point to possible misconduct as early as 2016. In total, Adams allegedly defrauded taxpayers of about $10 million over the last decade:

Like every other American, Eric Adams is innocent until proven guilty. But could his sudden legal troubles be due to something else? In April 2023, when busloads of illegal immigrants Protests broke out in New York City and other Democratic-run cities. Adams quickly blamed Republican governors for the attack. Adams went on to accuse the federal government, and particularly President Joe Biden, of not doing enough to aid the cities where the immigrants arrived. Adams said at the time:

“The President and the White House have failed New York City on this issue.” “This is one of the largest humanitarian crises this city has ever seen.” It will impact all services in the city. Why doesn’t every elected official in Washington, DC ask the national government, ‘Why are you doing this to New York?'”

Adams claimed the charges were in retaliation for his open criticism of the Biden administration’s immigration policies. In a video statement, Adams said:

“The federal government has done nothing because its broken immigration policies have overwhelmed our protection system without relief. I put the people of New York above party and politics.”

If Eric Adams had never said a word about how the Biden administration was handling the illegal immigrant crisis, would he be facing federal charges today? It’s hard to say, but then there’s Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-TX). In 2021, Cuellar, whose district lies on the Limit, damn Joe Biden for not leaving even to the border to see the crisis. In May 2024, Cuellar and his wife were charged Allegations of federal bribery, foreign influence and money laundering.

According to the NY Post story linked above, not all of Eric Adams’ voters approve of his church attendance. A woman at the senior center said, “They were in there saying prayers and st.” That prayer won’t work for a devil.

Adams will be back in court on Wednesday. If convicted on all counts, He faces 45 years in prison.
