North Carolina Lieutenant Governor and Republican candidate for governor Mark Robinson is bypassing Gov. Roy Cooper’s lackluster efforts by spearheading the emergency response following the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene. Robinson uses the authority of his own office to deploy air convoys around the clock to rescue stranded people and bring vital supplies to the people of Western North Carolina.

Governor Cooper provides updates, mostly from the comfort of his home or office. Robinson is actually on site and coordinating the effort.
Joe Biden told the people of North Carolina that they had no more supplies for us.
I called Franklin County Sheriff Kevin White and he said, “This is bullshit.”

Your deputies haven’t slept.
Your leadership has helped accomplish more for the state than I could have ever imagined.
They will continue to serve as our central state supply center until Western North Carolina is fully self-sufficient.
When Joe Biden and the federal government failed to act, Sheriff White and his team took the bull by the horns.
On Tuesday, Governor Cooper released another daily update, although he was nowhere to be seen during Hurricane Helene on Friday did his worst.
Progress in recovering from the effects of Tropical Storm Helene is making ponderous but steady progress, N.C. Gov. Roy Cooper said during an interdepartmental video news conference Tuesday.
Four days after Helene paralyzed the region, the governor and state department heads provided an update on Western North Carolina, but he also wanted to praise the people of his state for their resilience.
“As heartbreaking as this damage has been, it is encouraging to see people working together,” Cooper said.
This is not thanks to Cooper or the federal government. Without Mark Robinson’s quick thinking and practical efforts, many more people would have died and distribution of supplies would have been made more tough.

Folks, there’s no way to sugarcoat it. The situation in western North Carolina is getting worse by the hour. Residents are still without electricity and lack simple access to food and water. I call on Governor Roy Cooper to send more assist immediately. We need to deploy more National Guard personnel and add additional search and rescue teams.
Aside from the resources of other state governors, most of the aircraft carrying out the rescue and supply deliveries are private citizens and organizations like Paraclete, who are spending their own money and drawing on their own networks to provide aid to Western North Carolina. Surrounding state leaders like Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey have not only called up their National Guards, but are mobilizing when the time is right to assist rebuild Western North Carolina.
Thank you, Governor DeSantis. The great people of North Carolina value your leadership more than you think. https://t.co/65FKdxYxFE

Virtually every single aircraft currently conducting missions is privately owned. The few that don’t belong to states other than North Carolina.

Robinson was on the scene and used his authority to ensure that people calling for assist received the rescue and resources they needed.
Folks, our neighbors in Western North Carolina are having a tough time right now and we need to think and pray for them – we also want everyone to be sheltered and off the streets. Learn more about conditions in your area or how you can assist https://t.co/MHuVWvAN0q pic.twitter.com/7Nn6xHb79f

Even as he did the gargantuan work of coordinating these efforts, Robinson used his Save lives that can still be saved.
Hurricane Helene wreaked havoc on North Carolina, but one thing I learned from this experience is that we live in a state full of heroes.

Mark Robinson is one of those North Carolina heroes. Unless something else happens, I think he can probably expect to walk to the governor’s mansion, all because of his leadership and actions on behalf of the people of North Carolina.
Remember this face of the citizens of North Carolina.
As devastation and disaster mounts across western North Carolina…
