According to many experts, JD Vance spoke up during the October 1 vice presidential debate with Minnesota Governor Tim Walz. Walz referred to himself as a “knucklehead,” claimed he was friends with school shooters, and generally just seemed nervous and weird.

But Vance pursued an unusual strategy: He decided to largely ignore his opponent and not focus on his entire radical politics. Instead, he wanted to emphasize how extreme the Democrat is appointed The candidate is Kamala Harris.

Talk about “The Vince Coglianese ShowThe Ohio senator said he could have attacked Walz’s very checkered record:

“I was trying to convince people who weren’t fully aware of how radical and incompetent Harris’ time in government was. I sort of went into it saying, ‘Yeah, I could attack Tim Walz on his record, on his misrepresentations, on the tampons in the boys’ bathrooms, or any number of other crazy things he’s done,” Vance said.

Instead, he chose to shed more light on Kamala’s mistakes:

“But I realized that most Americans still don’t have a clear picture of Kamala Harris. So why not take my opportunity to talk about their balance sheet? To criticize the way she has actually run the administration over the last three and a half years. “To criticize her for the open border, for casting the crucial vote on trillions of dollars in new spending,” Vance added. “Just to make it clear to the American people why I think Kamala Harris has been so ineffective and why Donald Trump’s time in office has been much better when it comes to things like a secure border and rising wages.”

Vance continued, saying he wanted to exploit his time as effectively as possible:

“So I just ignored Tim Walz to the extent that he and I – of course I had to respond to some of his points. “There are some issues out there that I actually think he’s more reasonable than they are,” said Vance. “So I tried to use it to highlight how radical she was, and that was the strategy I used. I have 90 minutes to speak to approximately 50 million of my fellow Americans. Why don’t I talk to them about why I think Donald Trump would be a good president and Kamala Harris would be a bad president? This is the most effective way to use this time.”

It’s a strategy that seems to have yielded pretty good results:
