Lincoln, Neb. (AP) – Art Life Dispensary offers cannabinoid gums, tinctures, ointments that have been offering such products as one of the first companies in Nebraska for seven years. The founder and co -owner Andrea Watkins said her company was very successful, and she now had three locations in the capital of Nebraska, who employ eight employees and sell hundreds of regular guests who exploit the products to treat everything from pain and pain to anxiety and post -traumatic stress disorder.
But now she fears that her livelihood will be crumbled if a legislation of Nebraska, which she sells, would extend the path.
Nebraska’s law would criminalize the sale and possession of a series of products that contain tetrahydrocannabinol or THC, which gives the same area that marijuana gives its psychoactive properties. Every product that contains more than a total weight of 0.3% THC or more than 10 milligrams per package is prohibited.
“If this draft law becomes law? We would have to close,” said Watkins recently in her flagship business, which looks like a cross between a pharmacy and a spa.
It suspects that many of the more than 300 companies offer similar products in the whole of the state, since Hanf was legalized as part of the 2018 Federal Law. “We have to look at this fact. Most people want this kind of products,” said Holmes.
A proposal for the regulation instead of a ban
So far, the legislators of Nebraska have rejected the efforts of the Democrat of Omaha Senator John Cavanaugh, Senator John Cavanaugh, to replace the ban with a measure that would require a strict regulation of hemp-based consumption materials, as several other states have done. The Nebraska Hemp Industries Association supports Cavanaugh’s efforts to regulate the industry.
Cavanaugh and supporters of his measure say that the ban on hemp products at a time when the state suffers from dramatic revenues would only hit the state health insurance companies harder.

Despite the decriminalization of hemp and the approval by the voters for some marijuana consumption, Hilgers has to sell the cannabinoid products on a hemp basis. “With our new complaints, we increase our efforts to clean up Nebraska,” said Hilgers in September, when he sued four companies in Norfolk, who sold hemp-based consumption materials. “These businesses are misleading Nebraskans. No of the products we tested were precisely identified, and many contained controlled substances.”
Nebraska is far from restricting access to consumable hemp and other THC products. It is followed by a number of other countries in which similar efforts to regulate, criminalization or prohibition of such products, including Alabama, Florida, Tennessee and Texas, to regulate, criminalize or forbid.
However, democratic states have also led efforts to restrict hemp products. In California, where the marijuana consumption for leisure time is legally and heavily regulated and taxed, the supervisory authorities spent a ban on food and beverage products with hemp-derived THC last year, citing health concerns.
