Although it hasn’t garnered as much attention as some other high-profile Senate battles across the United States, the race between Pennsylvania Republican Senate candidate Dave McCormick and Sen. Bob Casey (D-PA) is still alive and getting More heated The first debate is scheduled for Thursday at 8 p.m. ET.
McCormick, a West Point graduate and veteran of the first Gulf War, has tried to portray his opponent as total, between forceful advertisements and stops around the state where he makes sure to link Casey to the extreme policies of Vice President Kamala Harris portray unhinged Connect with Keystone State voters on issues such as the border crisis, abortion, energy independence and so-called transgender rights. One way to do this is to highlight Casey’s actions and votes on these issues instead of his campaign rhetoric.

While polls have shown Casey leading throughout the race, McCormick was close enough in most polls to give Casey nightmares and worries about “misfortune.”Rush” of attack ads a month before Election Day.
As it turns out, McCormick’s persistence has paid off, as the last five polls released in September show him significantly narrowing the gap, which was 13 points at its widest point (in a July poll), and is now narrowing to just one approaches three points in the most recent surveyswhat is within the error limit:

When it comes to control of the Senate, West Virginia, with Governor Jim Justice, is considered an almost certain offshoot for the Republicans firmly ahead by 30 points or more in all available surveys. Another robust contender for a GOP pickup is Tim Sheehy of Montana moving forward rapidly by Senator Jon Tester and with numbers that are likely to get even better after Sheehy’s robust debate performance on Monday.
Barring any surprises in Texas or Florida, where Democrats are reportedly trying to push through in the desperate hope of a surprise or two, assuming Justice and Sheehy win, Republicans will control the Senate doesn’t matter on whether the Trump-Vance presidential ticket wins in November.
Needless to say, a McCormick victory (and Bernie Moreno in Ohio) would certainly be a nice cushion and feather for the GOP’s ceiling heading into 2025.
