Scaremongering, political fantasies and pearl-clutching. These are the Words Rep. Jared Golden (D-ME) used to describe the behavior of one of the political parties, and it was not that of his opponent.
That’s right – this Democratic congressman published an opinion piece condemning his party colleagues for their extremism and refusal to admit the obvious.
Biden’s needy performance in the debate was no surprise. And it didn’t upset me as much as it did others, because the outcome of this election has been clear to me for months: Even if I don’t plan to vote for him, Donald Trump will win. And that’s fine with me.
Rep. Golden is not the first Democrat to throw in the towel on Biden since the disastrous debate. Criticism is coming from all corners. While some are more overt and some more hidden, there are several common themes: a sense of betrayal, bewilderment, panic, hysteria. The left had nothing to hide behind after the debate we all saw.
Pelosi admits the truth: One can certainly ask whether the debate was “just an episode”
or if Biden “has a condition”
What is refreshing about Golden’s article is that he speaks sobering truths that other Democrats – perhaps until now – have not dared to speak.
The Democrats’ post-debate hand-wringing is based on the notion that a Trump victory would not only be a political defeat but a unique threat to our democracy. I reject that premise. Unlike Biden and many others, I refuse to participate in a campaign designed to scare voters by making them believe that Trump will end our democratic system.
His words are an assassination attempt on Biden’s character and his campaign. But he doesn’t stop there – he also made scathing remarks about Biden’s performance on our economy.
This election is about the economy, not democracy. And when it comes to our economy, our Congress is far more significant than who sits in the White House.
Some of the best work of the Congress in recent years has been despite the Presidentnot because of him. A handful of responsible Democrats, including myself and West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin, rejected Biden’s bloated “Build Back Better” bill and instead a law passed This boosted energy production in America, saved billions of dollars in Medicare salaries, and reduced the deficit.
These words almost sound like they were written by a Republican. He goes on to actually praise Trump’s trade policies and call on Democrats to stop sabotaging our country in the name of their policies.
Congress will have to face the economic elites and so-called experts in both parties who have already Working overtime to stop Trump’s planned trade policy This would reverse the damage of globalization and protect American companies from unfair foreign competition.
Although he also made some criticism of the Republican Party in his letter, this was hardly enough to overshadow the criticism of his own party’s chosen candidate. He ended with a call for everyone to sober up in the face of the left’s election propaganda:
I urge everyone – voters, elected officials, the media and all citizens – to ignore the fearmongering and political fantasies of the chatterboxes.
If anything is a sign of the times, this letter and the fact that other Democrats are abandoning ship are a clear sign of the historic and unprecedented times we are in. It is extremely unusual for so much negative criticism to be leveled at a candidate’s own party so close to an election. And yet Biden may not be replaced on the ballot. It’s as if the Democrats are handing this election away. If things continue like this, Trump can do nothing else for the next four months and win this election with his hands tied behind his back.
If the Democrats are stupid enough not to replace their nominee now, they deserve it. They are showing us that they are not doing what is best for their own party, let alone our country. Once again, they are showing us who they really are.
