CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) – West Virginia has another candidate for governor, but it’s a well-known former delegate running as a third party. Major party candidates get a lot of media exposure, but there are some third party candidates to keep an eye on as well.
Marshall Wilson of the Eastern Panhandle is seeking to become the next governor of West Virginia. He served as a Republican in the House of Representatives and then switched to the Independent.
This year he is running for governor as the Constitution Party’s candidate, but needs more signatures to get his name on the ballot in November.
Wilson says the public is dissatisfied with the major party candidates: Republican Patrick Morrisey and Democrat Steve Williams.
“You saw that in the primaries. I’m from Berkeley County, and in my county, 17% of registered voters showed up to vote. 17%, that’s crazy. And yet we find that these elected people actually represent the majority. Well, the majority don’t even vote,” said Marshall Wilson, the Constitution Party’s candidate for governor of West Virginia.
Wilson must collect 8,000 signatures by August 1 to get his name on the November ballot, but he is still about 2,000 signatures miniature.

There are sure to be other third-party candidates for governor this year, including Chase Linko-Looper of the Mountain Party and Erika Kolenich, the Libertarian Party candidate.
