With their bench far from deep and having lost several key districts in the 2024 presidential election, Democrats may be close to adding another player to their bench who could be able to put at least one of those districts back on the ballot to bring wrinkles. On Monday, gun control advocate David Hogg made the announcement intends to run for the position of deputy chairman the Democratic National Committee (DNC).
Oh look, David Hogg says he’s going to run for vice chairman of the DNC. Claims he will entice men to vote for the Democratic Party again.

Hogg rose to fame in 2018 after surviving a shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. Since then, he has been a vocal advocate for gun control. Hogg said that if he wins the office, his focus would be on luring back juvenile people who left the Democratic Party in 2024. This year’s election didn’t go particularly well for Democrats when it came to connecting with juvenile voters, Donald Trump and Republicans win the largest share of voters under 30 than any other GOP candidate since 2008. Hogg believes he can change that.

But for Democrats, Hogg could be a double-edged sword. On Democrats’ renewed outreach to juvenile voters, Hogg explained:
“Going forward, we need to refocus on our youth work across all states and territories to rebuild our coalition following the massive rightward shift among young voters this election.”
However, it was his criticism of Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign and suggestion that Democrats allow themselves a few moments of self-reflection that might not get him on the good side of the Democratic Party bigwigs. Hogg said this about the Harris campaign and the Democrats’ seemingly cavalier attitude toward her loss to Donald Trump.
“They raised an absurd amount of money. This was our race to lose, and we lost it. And it’s time to pull back the curtain and say, ‘Okay, what did we do wrong?’ Instead of just protecting the advisors who got us here in the first place.”
David Hogg running for DNC vice chairman? The Democrats are really scraping the bottom of the barrel.
His “unique perspective”? As his party burns, he champions failed gun control policies and lectures Americans about accountability. Young voters see through this empty virtue…

But Democrats may not be able to ignore Hogg’s efforts to get a foot in the door with DNC leadership. He emailed all 448 members who would vote and scheduled follow-up calls with them. Hogg said he pointed out that he felt the party had a “lack of awareness” ahead of the election and why it had not focused on reaching juvenile men specifically, explaining:
“I’ve gotten messages from various advisors saying, ‘Please say that stupid stuff again.’ As if they know what young people are thinking, when it is emblematic of the larger problem facing the Democratic Party, where we would rather choose to live in a fictional reality curated by consultants.”
But actually one could rightly ask whether David Hogg knows what young people think. In one AP VoteCast poll of voters Between the ages of 18 and 29, jobs and the economy were the most essential issues for 40 percent of these voters, followed by abortion. Gun policy came in seventh place.
While Americans on both sides of the aisle agree that politics needs juvenile people to get into politics and bring fresh ideas, it helps if those juvenile people actually know what they’re talking about. In In February 2023, Hogg took to Twitter, now X, and posted this gem:
“After reading about the history of the Second Amendment and speaking to many historians and law professors, I believe that the Second Amendment has been intentionally misinterpreted. It was never intended as an individual right, but was created to protect state militias such as the National Guard.” “There is a reason why well-regulated militias cannot be violated.” I am not alone in this interpretation. 100 years of jurisprudence support me in it.”
Needless to say, he was teased by people who knew what they were talking about. Hogg’s other “enterprise” came into play In February 2021, he announced that he would form the progressive company “Good Pillow, LLC” with co-founder William LeGate to compete with conservative Mike Lindell’s “My Pillow” franchise. In April, Hogg retired, divesting himself of all shares in the company and declaring he would “return to activism.” Probably a good idea.
Hogg will be running for DNC Vice Chairman against Minnesota Party Chairman and DNC Vice Chairman Ken Martin, Wisconsin Party Chairman Ben Wickler, former Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley and New York State Senator James Skoufis. compete. The DNC will vote on February 1st. If he wins, Hogg could become the gift that keeps on giving to Republicans.
