Washington (AP) -Eight candidates will go on Tuesday in the special forecast of the congress before the election campaign in the southern Arizona voters to replace the long -time democratic US MP Raúl Grijalva, who died in March with complications from cancer treatment.

The winners will represent their parties in a special election on September 23, to convey the remaining 15 months of Grijalva’s term in the 7th congress district, which extends from Yuma to Tuscon and hugged almost the entire length of the Arizona line with Mexico.

The seat will not decide control over the US house, but it is one of three positions in strongly democratic districts that will probably remove the slim majority of Republicans in the chamber with 220-212 majority in the special elections in autumn.

Five candidates run for democratic nomination. The former supervisor of Pima County, Adelita Grijalva, is the daughter of the slow Congressman and supports many of the best -known Democrats of the state, including US SEN. She also has notes from US Senator Bernie Sanders from Vermont and the US MP Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez from New York, key figures in the party’s progressive wing. Sanders is an independent who crouches with Democrats.

The former state representative Daniel Hernandez previously ran in the neighboring 6th congress district in 2022, but did not remain nomination. As an intern of the congress in January 2011, he provided Giffords after an almost fatal attack in front of a Tucson food business.

The social media influencer and the progressive activist Deja Foxx are the youngest in the field at the age of 25. As a 16-year-old, Foxx became more essential when an interaction that she had with the Republican at the time became Senator Jeff Flake in a town hall in 2017. In 2020 she worked as a digital strategist for the primary campaign of Kamala Harris’ presidential primary campaign. In 2021, she informed Rolling Stone that she was planning to become President.

The indigenous activist and learned Jose Malvido Jr. and the former manager of the healthcare system Patrick Harris Sr. are also looking for democratic nomination.

The basic republican voice offers the contractor and diminutive business owner Daniel Buierez, the restaurant owner Jorge Rivas and the general contractor and the business owner of the vehicle accessory owner Jimmy Rodriguez. All three have previously searched.

In 2024, Buierez received about 37% of the votes as a republican candidate against Raúl Grijalva, while the then presidential candidate Donald Trump Arizona took back at the head of the ballot. In 2022, Rivas made a short-lived campaign for the governor after a rag of 2020 when the presence of his and his wife triggered negative reviews of his restaurant at a Trump campaign. Rodriguez ran for the congress in 2020 and initially submitted in Arizona’s 8th congress district as a GOP Primary Challenger for the then US Report. Debbie Lesko, but ultimately withdrew in Vermont, where he lost the Republican nomination to see the democratic rep. Peter Welch.

At the end of June, Hernandez headed the Fundraising field with 981,000 US dollars for Grijalva and 600,000 US dollars for Foxx. But Hernandez ‘high spending quota gave Adelita Grijalva the most money in the bank on the last route of the campaign. As of June 25th, she had about $ 128,000 compared to 100,000 US dollars for Foxx and about 37,000 US dollars for Hernandez.

Buyez had brought in almost $ 180,000 US dollars for his campaign, most of it in loans that were secured by the candidate. His $ 98,000 in the bank put the rest of the GOP field far in the shade.

The majority Hispanic 7th District comprises parts of six counties, including the three most populous: Maricopa, Pima and Pinal. While Maricopa often plays a crucial role in the nationwide elections, it takes back in the 7th district of Pima County, which is more than 60% of the registered voters of the district.

Democrats enjoy a registration advantage of almost 2-1 over the Republicans, both in the district width and in five of the six counties. The Republicans are over the Democrats in the diminutive corner of the Pinal County, which falls within the district borders.

According to Pima County, the districts of Maricopa and Yuma offer the highest potential for possible voices both in the democratic and in Republican primary elections, followed by Santa Cruz.

The Associated Press does not make projections and only explains a winner if it is found that there is no scenario that enables the follow -up candidates to close the gap. If a breed has not been called, the AP will continue to cover all the latest developments such as candidate concessions or victory clearations. The AP will make it clear that he has not yet explained a winner and explains why.

In Arizona, a recording is automatic if the voting span is 0.5% of the total hour or less. The AP can explain a winner in a race that is entitled to count if it can find that the leadership is too vast to receive a recording or a legal challenge in order to change the result.

Here is a look at what you can expect on Tuesday:

Special primary day

The special primaries for Arizonas 7th congress district take place on Tuesday. Surveys close at 7 p.m. local time at 7 p.m., 10 p.m. No results are published before 11 p.m. Most of Arizona does not watch summer time.

What is on the ballot?

The AP will provide voting results and explain the winners in both the democratic and in the Republican primary elections.

Who can vote?

The special primary elections are narrow to voters who are registered in the 7th congress district. Registered Democrats and Republicans may only vote in the primaries of their own parties. Independents can either vote in the democratic or republican primary school.

What are the turnout and pre -selection?

From June 16, almost 440,000 voters were registered in the 7th district. About 175,000 or 40%of these were Democrats and almost 92,000 or 21%Republicans. Around 165,000 voters were not registered with any party.

In the primary elections in 2024 for the 7th district, the turnout was 12% of registered voters in the democratic primary school and 5% in the republican primary school. About 92% of the democratic primary voters and about 80% of the Republican primary voters emitted their ballot paper before the election day.

From Thursday, almost 40,000 democratic and more than 12,000 Republican primary voting slips were already occupied.

How long does the vote recording normally take?

In the 2024 presidential election, the AP for the first time reported the results in the 7th district at 10 p.m. and the earliest time votes under state law. The table ended for the night at 6:44 a.m. ET with about 55% of the total votes.

Are we already there?

From Tuesday it will be 70 days until the special elections on September 23.
