Washington (AP)-Control over the US representative house is not at stake in the special forecast of the congress on Tuesday in Florida, but the Republicans are still striving to find replacement for the former GOP representatives Matt Gaetz and Michael Waltz, To give their slim MPs some air to breathe the majority in the chamber.
President Donald Trump plays a major role in the race, both in the primaries on Tuesday and in the special elections on April 1. He supported candidates in both allies of the GOP and won both districts with ease in the November elections.
Trump supported the CFO of the state, Jimmy Patronis, in a crowded ten-person field in the former 1st Gaetz congress district. In the 6th congress district of Waltz, he supported the deputy Randy Fine to two other candidates. Fine represents a Senate district of the state of Brevard County, which lies outside the seat in the Palm Coast area, which he hopes to fill.
The arms control activist Gay Valimont has no opposite for the nomination of the Democrats in the 1st district. She challenged Gaetz for the seat in November and received 34 % of the votes. Democrats George Selmont and Josh Weil compete for the nomination in the 6th district. Selmont is a lawyer and filmmaker who ran for a neighboring congress seat in 2018. He received 32 % of the votes against Republican MP John Rutherford. Because is a educator at public schools in Oscola County.
The 1st congress district borders Alabama on the golf coast in the westernmost part of the Panhandle of Florida. It is home to the Naval Air Station Pensacola and the Eglin Air Force Base. The district is one of the most reliable republican districts of the state. The four counties that form the 1st district have voted almost continuously for Republican presidential candidates in the past 60 years.
On the other side of the state is the 6th congress district on the Atlantic coast and includes Daytona Beach. Republican presidential candidates chose all six districts of the district in the last four presidential elections. The republicans’ winning streak has decades back in some counties. Lake County, for example, has not supported Democrats since Franklin Roosevelt in 1944.
Trump’s support is likely to have significant weight in both districts. He achieved his tender result in both districts in the parliamentary elections last year in the Escambia County in the 1st district, where he received 59 % of the vote.
In the parliamentary elections in November, Gaetz and Waltz won their re -election with 66 % and 67 % of the votes. Gaetz resigned after Trump appointed him the Attorney General, but later withdrew from the examination after a state examination of the sex trade and an investigation by the Ethics Committee of the House of Representatives was continuously checked. Waltz resigned on Monday to become a Weiße Haus national security advisor.
The Associated Press does not make forecasts and will only announce a winner if it is found that there is no scenario that would enable the back candidates to close the gap. If no races have been proclaimed, the AP will continue to report on all reporting developments, such as concessions of the candidates or declarations of victory. The AP will make it clear that it has not yet explained a winner and explain why.
Mechanical recesses in Florida take place automatically if the voice lead is 0.5 % of the total votes or less. If the mechanical recent counting results in a voice room of 0.25 % of the total votes or less, a manual recent counting of the over and under votes is required. The AP can name a winner in a race that is suitable for a recent count if it can find that the lead is too great to change the result.
Here is a look at what you can expect on Tuesday:
