Things are moving quickly after President-elect Donald Trump’s victory in the general election on Tuesday. One of the issues that voters said pulled the lever at the ballot box for him rather than Vice President Kamala Harris is immigration.
In an article on Thursday, my colleague Ward Clark outlined the agenda items Trump wanted to tackle on the first day of the fresh administration. Of course, this not only includes deporting illegal immigrants already in the country, but also securing the porous southern border with Mexico.

But after the Republicans’ overwhelming victory, there are already good signs, with illegals reportedly moving in a huge caravan through our neighbor to the south started give it up and turn back:
The caravan, which began in southern Mexico earlier this week, included about 3,000 migrants seeking asylum or economic opportunities in the United States
It’s telling that one woman, undeterred by Trump’s victory, singled out CBP One as a beacon of hope:
Speaking to Reuters, another Venezuelan migrant, identified only as Jeilimar, said she hopes to secure an asylum appointment through U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s CBP One app before Trump takes office in January 2025.
“With God’s favor, I will get this appointment,” she said.

The fresh government must put pressure on the fresh Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum, even though it could be a fight since she is a leftist. Trump has already indicated that he has Sheinbaum’s number on speed dial for the first day of a conversation about tariffs and stemming the flow of illegal immigrants and drug trafficking into the United States. It’s been said before, but it’s significant to say it: If a country can it really call itself a country if it doesn’t defend its sovereign borders? We’ll keep you updated.
