On Wednesday night, Trump announced that the CEO and former senator will play an even larger role in his modern team in the White House in the position of administrator of the Small Business Administration (SBA):

“I am pleased to appoint business leader and former U.S. Senator Kelly Loeffler of the State of Georgia as Administrator of the Small Business Administration (SBA). Small businesses are the backbone of our great economy. Kelly will bring business and Washington experience to cut red tape and empower our small businesses to grow, innovate and thrive. She will focus on ensuring the SBA is accountable to taxpayers by cracking down on waste, fraud and regulatory overreach.

“Kelly was a great campaigner in the U.S. Senate during the first Trump administration, including helping to pass the first law protecting women in sports. Prior to her term in the U.S. Senate, Kelly built a 25-year career in financial services and technology.” Along with her amazing husband Jeff, she helped grow a Fortune 500 company from 100 to over 10,000 employees, and she and Jeff also helped me secure the big election victory in Georgia.

“Kelly is a strong believer in the American Dream and grew up as the fourth generation to work on her family farm and was the first in her family to attend college. She graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in business administration. Kelly holds an MBA from DePaul University and was the first CFA charterholder to serve in the Senate. Over the past four years, Kelly and her nonprofit Greater Georgia have worked tirelessly to restore election integrity, public outreach and voter registration in Georgia. In addition to SBA Administrator, I appointed her as Co-Chair of the Presidential Inaugural Committee.

“Congratulations, Kelly!”

reader I could remember that Loeffler served as U.S. Senator from the Peach State beginning in January 2020 after Gov. Brian Kemp appointed her to Sen. Johnny Isakson’s (R) seat, which he vacated for health reasons.

Loeffler “ran in a special election for the U.S. Senate to represent Georgia. She lost in the special runoff election on January 5, 2021 to Democrat Rafael Warnock, who served Isakson’s term (until January 2023).

Here’s more about Loeffler’s background:

Loeffler is co-owner of the Atlanta Dream WNBA team. She served as Chief Communications and Marketing Officer and Head of Investor Relations for Intercontinental Exchange, a commodity and financial exchange company, for 16 years.
