Politics and corruption seem to go hand in hand, and have done so since Mark Antony allegedly demanded bribes from King Herod to get Rome to support Herod’s claim to the throne of Judea. Things haven’t gotten much better since then; an venerable Army buddy of mine who grew up in Arkansas in the ’60s and ’70s once told me that in his part of Arkansas, being a country sheriff was a lifelong security because the position allowed you to do favors for vital people.
However, it seems the Biden family wants to take it to the next level, and one thing we can learn from an analysis of their machinations is that as vice president, you have the opportunity to wield quite a bit of influence and operate that influence without too many people paying attention. That’s exactly what Joe Biden did as vice president under Barack Obama. He and his family took advantage of business dealings with one of America’s enemies.
Hunter Biden told his business associates in tardy 2013 that a senior Chinese Communist Party (CCP) leader had allegedly asked him to travel to China to discuss future “business opportunities,” according to an email verified by Fox News Digital.
In December 2013, Biden accompanied his father, then Vice President Joe Bidenon a six-day trip through Asia that included China, South Korea and Japan. While in Beijing, Biden introduced his father to one of his Chinese business associates, accompanied by another business associate, in the lobby of the hotel where they were staying.
“Business opportunities” indeed. And his father accompanied him to meet these “business partners.”
During the China leg of the trip, Biden attended several events with his father, including a luncheon that hosted some of China’s most powerful CCP leaders. On December 5, Jonathan Li, the business partner to whom Vice President Biden was introduced, emailed Biden asking how his China trip was going, to which Biden emailed later that day saying everything had “gone very well.”
“Do you know the former governor of Hong Kong, CH Troung (sp?),” asked Hunter. “He wants me to visit him in Hong Kong to discuss business opportunities. At lunch with Premiere, he sat next to Dad and said we know each other – but I don’t remember him.”
“Very well, I can go with you and find out what he can do for us,” Li said to Hunter.
“Troung” refers to CH Tung, a former Hong Kong governor and billionaire who served as vice chairman of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) between 2005 and 2023, a former Biden business associate confirmed to Fox News Digital.
What is the CPPCC?
According to a 2018 report by the US-China Economic and Security Review Commission, a US government agency, the CPPCC is a “central part” of China’s United Front system that works to “co-opt and neutralize sources of potential opposition to the policies and authority of the ruling Chinese Communist Party (CCP).”
None of this presents a pretty picture.

To recap: We have Hunter Biden, the Vice President’s ne’er-do-well son, being asked by a Chinese Communist Party official to travel to China to discuss “business opportunities.” Next, we have Vice President Biden, on a trip to Asia, stopping by to meet with this Chinese official. Later, we have an email from Biden praising that meeting — and then discussing more “business opportunities” with a former Hong Kong governor who also met the Vice President and is a key Communist Party official, offering even more “business opportunities.”
The results of these meetings never led to a single product being manufactured or offered for sale – but somehow huge amounts of money flowincluding the various shell companies and bank accounts of the Biden family. In a reasonable world, this would be called bribery.
I’m venerable enough to remember – barely – when Republicans in Congress went to President Richard Nixon and told him they had to support impeachment and conviction for his misconduct in the Watergate cover-up. My father let me watch these proceedings and told me, “History is being made here.” These people, including Barry Goldwater, had principles back then.
But that’s not going to happen now, even though this is exactly the picture of high crimes and misdemeanors. Now it’s all about the page, and while the House can remove President Biden from office with a narrow vote along party lines (assuming no defections among Republicans, and I wouldn’t bet on that), the Senate will never vote to impeach. Hunter Biden could go to the Senate, bare his soul, and spend days detailing his corruption abetment and blaming the “big guy,” complete with emails, bank records, and so on, and the Senate still wouldn’t vote to convict.
While this would be a clear case for impeachment and removal, there are simply no principles, only principles. No matter what evidence comes to airy, it’s just not going to happen.
