CNN host Harry Enten throws the reality hammer at Kamala Harris’ dreams

Democratic power brokers are trying to build enthusiasm for Kamala Harris because she has little time left to secure her nomination before the convention and avoid any campaign effort that could unseat her. She has received some key endorsements from the elite. Democrat Nancy Pelosi now appears to have flipped, and George Clooney is also on board.

Of course, that says nothing about the rest of the country, which doesn’t really care what the elite thinks, and that’s the real problem for Harris. She’s not popular, in fact, some polls say she’s even more unpopular than Joe Biden. As I wrote before, former President Donald Trump is still ahead of her, as even MSNBC’s Steve Kornacki had to admit.

But now there is more bad news for Harris: CNN data analyst Harry Enten. He put a damper on the propaganda parade: “Despite all the enthusiasm of the Democrats for Kamala Harris, it will be difficult to beat Donald Trump,” he said.

Enten said polls show Trump as more popular than ever. ABC/Ipsos puts him at 40 percent and Quinnipiac at 46 percent, the highest ever in these polls. “They have to beat Donald Trump, a Donald Trump who is stronger than ever,” Enten said.

Then Enten addresses the problem they face – that Trump is one percentage point ahead in the national vote. He said Biden was four percentage points ahead in 2020 and barely made it in the Electoral College. Those numbers are a huge problem because Trump is doing five percentage points better than he did in 2020. He said a tie in the national vote would not be enough in the Electoral College for Kamala Harris to win.

When Trump is ahead in the national vote, you know the Democrats are in trouble.

That’s a lot to make up for, especially for an unpopular candidate like Harris. Then there are a lot of Democratic voters, not to mention all the other voters who aren’t elated with how things went after Biden was pushed aside. Plus, they’ve already lost voters because of bad policies.

We will have to wait and see how the survey results develop in the future.

But the bottom line is that whatever the polls say, Republicans need to go out and flood the polls with votes so there’s no doubt about it. They need to make sure this is a huge enough election to be unlosable.
