Colorado primary: Lauren Boebert wins and takes over seat of retiring congressman Ken Buck

Republican Rep. Lauren Boebert of Colorado has had a gritty year. After narrowly missing a win in 2022, she went through a very public and humiliating divorce and subsequently underwent emergency surgery to remove a blood clot. When Boebert decided to move to Colorado’s 4th Congressional District to run for retiring Rep. Ken Buck’s seat, many saw it as an act of desperation and perhaps an admission that her congressional career was over. But it seems Boebert’s political instincts hit the nail on the head. In a crowded field of Republican candidates, Boebert won Tuesday’s primary.

Boebert moves on to November Parliamentary elections to run against Trisha Calvarese, a Democratic fortune hunter who had written speeches for the slow Richard Trumka.

Lauren Boebert, Republican Representative from Colorado won She won her primary for former Rep. Ken Buck’s seat on Tuesday night, beating a powerful Republican primary in her recent 4th District, the Associated Press reported.

Boebert decided to switch from her district to Buck’s district, which left Congress earlier this year, after enduring a tough primary in 2022. The Coloradoan said she decided to make the switch because she needed a fresh start after facing a series of scandals in her home district. according to CBS News.

The Colorado Republican also decided not to run in the special election in Buck’s district, which would last for the remainder of Buck’s term. But Greg Lopez, the Republican candidate for the special electiondid not run for the full term. If Boebert had decided to run in the special election, it would have opened up a special election for her own seat in the Third District.

Boebert received large congratulations from fellow GOP conference chair and E-PAC founder Elise Stefanik.

The Fourth District remains heavily Republican, and the RNC expects them to retain the seat. In 2020, the district voted for former President Donald J. Trump by 19 percentage points.
