It’s amazing, but every now and then even the most partisan and narrow-minded politicians can be slapped in the face by reality – so tough and repeatedly that they are forced to admit they’ve done something wrong. This is what is happening to a group of Senate Democrats who are finally admitting that their party is responsible for the wound at our southern border.
This is known as point out the obvious.
Democratic senators are privately admitting that their party has committed “political misconduct” by botching the issue of border security, which they say is the driving factor behind it President-elect Trump overwhelming victory and loss of four Senate seats.
Democratic senators had a long, intense conversation about what went wrong in this year’s election during a recent lunch meeting in the wood-paneled Mansfield Room, just off the Senate floor.
The “long and intense” conversation about what went wrong for Democrats this year could have spanned a span of time measured on the geological scale; They could have saved time by noting, for example, what the Harris campaign accomplished Right, A conversation that would last approximately six minutes, of which five minutes and 48 seconds could be used to discuss the vice president’s makeup artist.
Based on many years of experience, one would expect that this group would deviate seriously from reality. The Democratic senators did not disappoint; They showed a certain blindness in examining the problems.
Senators present at the meeting offered various theories as to why their party fell to defeat on Election Day, although many of them see it that way President Biden impressive achievements and the strength of the economy.
Many Senate Democrats believe voters’ destitute opinion of Biden’s record stems from their anger over rising costs. That was probably the biggest factor in Trump’s victory, they say.
Look at the first sentence; President Biden’s greatest achievement these days is standing lofty, and even at that he has suffered several high-profile recent failures. As for the “strength of the economy” – these senators have clearly been living under a rock for the last four years as interest rates have skyrocketed, prices for everything from gas to eggs to cars have skyrocketed are, and, oh, yes, the border remains an absolute disaster.

And finally some Reality sets in.
But there is a growing feeling among Democratic lawmakers that the Biden administration has completely mishandled the huge influx of migrants across the southern border and that it has also done great damage to their party.
“We have destroyed ourselves on immigration in a completely predictable and entirely manageable way. We have handled this issue completely poorly, including our Democratic caucus here,” a Democratic senator told The Hill.
And there lies the crux of the problem. Democrats have spent the last four years reassuring us that the border is under control, that illegal immigrants are law-abiding people, and that what President-elect Trump (will never tire of this) called “migrant crime” is a fabrication of the USA is the fantasy of the former and future president, despite the evidence of Laken Riley, Jocelyn Nungaray, Rachel Morin and the residents of some apartment buildings in Aurora, Colorado.
The large question here is whether this sudden realization will lead to changes to the Democratic Party’s platform. A close look at this party’s recent track record would suggest that its collective cognitive dissonance will continue – that’s good news for Republicans.
