The sealing of the court files that had been sealed opens a window in the criminal proceedings and shows that the investigators in Manhattan, when the Washington officers withdrew from the public prosecutor, passed forward.
The documents also confirm that the prosecutors were previously unveiled: a federal investigation as to whether Adams started improper campaign contributions in August 2021 when the Democrat was still in his senior job in Brooklyn Borough, was generally expected to win the mayor’s race in this case.
Adams repeatedly believed that he was persecuted because he criticized the immigration policy of former President Joe Biden much later as the mayor.
The investigation was first surpassed to the public in November 2023 when the FBI agents confiscated Adams’ phones and the iPad when he left an event in Manhattan. 10 months later he was charged

Searches and seizures
The US district judge Dale E. Ho did not order the records at the request of the New York Times and later the New York Post. The Times argued in court files that there was a “particularly convincing” case for the public because there would be no legal proceedings. Neither Adam’s lawyers nor prosecutors rejected the request.
The documents offer a look behind the scenes in which the investigators have put together their case by searching for electronics and physical locations in New York and beyond.
The not sealed documents also showed that a judge had searched an arrest warrant in May 2024 to search for the long -time romantic partner of the mayor, Tracey Collin, who previously worked as a senior official in the city’s Ministry of Education.
Collins does not names the application for detention directly, but identifies it as a partner of Adams and says that the mayor sometimes also uses the house. The agents wanted to carry out the search to gain access to five iPhones, as they examined whether an official who was connected to the Turkish consulate was looking for facilitate in the admission of a child to a coveted public middle school.
The application was also included in September 2024 for an arrest warrant to search for Gracie Mansion, the official residence of the mayor in Manhattan, which delivers photos of the building from several perspectives.
An affidavit of an FBI agent states that the location data for one of Adam’s phones indicate that he spends the “night hours” from Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday in the residence “and occasionally also on other days”.
Adams meets Trump
Adams’s lawyer of Adams, Alex Spiro, asked about a comment on the novel documents, criticized Adams’ lawyer, Alex Spiro, the now ending law enforcement.
“This case – the first case of his kind of airline -upgrade ‘corruption’ case – should never have been brought first and now over is over,” said Spiro.
Adams has advertised the discharge of the case as a justification and denied that he completed a deal with Trump in an exchange against forbearance. But he maintained a toasty relationship with the president after his case was rejected. The two guides met in Washington on Friday, and Trump later told the reporters: “I think he actually came in to thank me.”
The Adams office published an explanation in which they discussed “critical infrastructure projects and the preservation of important social services”.
Even with the criminal charges behind him, Adams faces an uncertain political future. He recently announced that he would skip the democratic primary school in June and instead run as independence in the general elections in November.
