Most thinking people knew it was coming, but it still sent shockwaves through the political world when Joe Biden finally issued a full pardon for his convicted felon son Hunter, after months of promising Americans that he would do no such thing would. Democrats and Republicans alike were alarmed that he had gone back on his word, and it seemed as if only fringe MSNBC hosts and die-hard Biden supporters thought it was a good move.
Anita Dunn, a longtime top adviser to the president who served as Biden’s strategist and senior adviser in the Biden White House during his 2020 campaign until she moved to the Harris campaign this summer when Joe abandoned his failing re-election effort, admits that it was the act of a man who doesn’t care about our justice system.
Speaking Wednesday at a New York Times panel discussion at the 2024 DealBook Summit, Dunn criticized the lame-duck president. However, as a good democrat, she couldn’t bring herself to admit that the whole idea was wrong; she I just didn’t like the timing:
“I think from the Democratic Party perspective, from the Democratic perspective, since we were in the middle of the president-elect announcing his nominees and especially in the middle of a Kash Patel weekend, we kind of threw this in the middle of it exceptionally bad timing, and I think many observers are concerned about a president who ran to restore the rule of law, who upheld the rule of law, who really defended the rule of law, sort of saying, “Well, Maybe.” “Not at the moment,” she said.

Dunn, who was among a tiny group of top aides who protected Biden and tried to stop pressure on him to leave office, says she was unhappy with the way it was handled, the timing of the pardon or disagreed with the language of Biden’s statement about the pardon, portraying it as an attack on the justice system.

Anita Dunn calls the @POTUS pardon “an attack on the justice system” during the @DealBook Summit panel moderated by @maggieNYT, saying the “story would be different” if he had done so later and is with the timing and the way it was done, and the reasoning calls it “exceptionally bad timing.” “It’s very clear that the White House really wasn’t part of this process,” but “internal with the family and defense attorneys.”
The best moment, however, came when Dunn shamelessly tried to push the ridiculous narrative that Biden’s Justice Department had not become dangerously politicized under the current regime. Trump adviser Jason Miller criticized her for the comment: “With all due respect, Anita, have you missed the last four years?”
Gold:
🚨Watch @JasonMiller Call out Biden adviser Anita Dunn for ridiculously claiming the Biden Justice Department is not politicized to take action against President Trump:

Dunn: “If you look at this attorney general [Merrick Garland]that Justice Department… the only thing you really can’t say about it is that it functioned as a political arm of the White House. I can confirm that.” Miller: “With all due respect, Anita, have you missed the last four years? Did you miss the illegal raid on Mar-a-Lago?”
A novel era begins on January 20, 2025, and hopefully Trump nominees Kash Patel (FBI), Pam Bondi (Attorney General), Tom Homan (Border Czar), Marco Rubio (Secretary of State), Pete Hegseth (Department of Defense) and others can be among with the oversight of our octogenarian president, pristine up the rot that has befallen DC.
When even a very partisan Biden supporter like Anita Dunn sees that there is a problem, you know it is real.
