Flying pig warning: CNN anchor says Trump will ‘probably win’ if he sticks to his policies

Imagine this. A CNN anchor admits live that Donald Trump will “probably win” when it comes to policy in November. That’s a massive “if,” but The Most Trusted Name in News™ still allowed one of its anchors to utter those unthinkable words. It’s only partly a joke.

In fact, CNN host and political commentator Michael Smerconish said on Friday that Trump had a clear advantage over Harris to politics.

When you look at the data and ask people whether they value – I would say the record of Biden and Harris or that of Trump – they look back positively on the Trump years.

As RedState reported on August 15, Silicon Valley, long a Democratic stronghold, is showing growing support for Trump. Investor and entrepreneur Joe Lonsdale told Fox News host Maria Bartiromo that Harris’ policies “destroy everything.”

What you see is that in Silicon Valley in 2016 there were hardly any supporters for Trump, in 2020 there were a few more, and now I would say that probably half of the leaders I know who are building something in business are realizing: Wait a minute, there is this crazy, threatening, radical left-wing movement in our society. It’s going to destroy everything.

This will prevent us from being builders, and we must support the side that allows our civilization to thrive.

When Bartiromo asked Lonsdale whether Harris’ largely unknown politics could be the factor pushing Silicon Valley toward Trump, he didn’t hesitate to answer.

I have been watching her for 20 years. And I think we have seen that she does not know how she can ever counter the extreme left. She raised her hand with [Vermont Sen.] Bernie Sanders wants to repeal Medicare. She said she would end the filibuster to get the Green New Deal passed. I mean, we could all say we don’t know what she’s going to do.

She has a weaker foreign policy. The people around her who write editorials with Iranian spies, who don’t stand up to the Latin American socialists… she will never stand up to the bureaucracies or the corrupt NGOs that ruined California and that the parties in Washington give money to.

But – and that is a massive BUT As Smerconish said:

[Trump’s] has to curb his worst instincts. He strays too far from the script when he looks at the audience and thinks they are bored.

That element exists. “If the race is about personality,” Smerconish said, “he loses.”

Is Smerconish right? That remains to be seen. If the demographic of those voting for him in November does not expand beyond those who supported him in 2020, that could be problematic.

Kamala Chameleon: Can the real Kamala Harris please stand up?

Republican Senator Lindsey Graham (South Carolina) – not exactly a favorite of Trump Nation – shares the same view on both points. Graham believes Trump can win if he focuses on policy – which he describes as “Key to the White House” – but also that the former president could lose if he “doesn’t stick to his policies.” Graham said last Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press”:

President Trump can win this election. His policies are good for America, and if there is a political debate about the president, he wins. Donald Trump, the provocateur, the showman, may not win this election.

I expect President Trump to step up in his final 80 days and make clear what he will do for our country: fix broken borders and reduce inflation.

A nightmare for Harris is defending her policy decisions. Every day that we don’t talk about her policy decisions as vice president and what she would do as president is a good day for her and a bad day for us.

Whether you like Graham or not, he has a good point, as does Smerconish, who also surprisingly said:

Let’s not forget that the Republicans had a great convention. I thought they were perfect, and the Democrats were too.

Well, the Democratic National Convention was only “perfect” if you define “perfect” as the greatest attempt at manipulation in the history of American politics, full of lies and devoid of any details about the policies a President Harris would impose on this country.

The conclusion

Trump can lose this election.
