(The hill) – The National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) shared a AI generated video Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) appears to be praising the government shutdown — which is based on one real quotebut not in the way the video portrays it.

“Every day gets better for us,” the video posted on social platform X shows an AI-generated rendering of Schumer saying before smiling.

From there, the video shows a montage of news clips showing military personnel at food banks and the closure of air traffic control towers. The video later shows Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) saying that Democrats want the shutdown “because they want free, government-provided health care for illegal immigrants.” misleading message.

The video ends with a voiceover and another shot of Schumer’s AI-generated smile.

“The Schumer shutdown is making things worse across America, and Democrats love it,” the speaker said.

The Schumer quote comes from an interview with Punchbowl News on October 9th.

“That’s because we thought about it well in advance and knew that health care would be the focus on September 30th, and we prepared for it,” Schumer said. “Their whole theory was: threaten us, deceive us, and we would submit in a day or two.”

Joanna Rodriguez, NRSC communications director, defended the committee’s video in an X positionby writing, “AI is here and not going anywhere. Adapt and win or hold on to pearls and lose.”

AI videos were already being used before the funding freeze began during the fight between Democrats and Republicans over the government shutdown.

President Trump recently shared a bogus AI video by Schumer and Senate Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries speaking to reporters, with Jeffries wearing a sombrero and sporting a mustache while Schumer says Democrats “run out of voters because of our woke trans cops.”

Jeffries called the video racist and told Trump: “When I get back in the Oval Office, tell me to my face.” Then, on Saturday, an official X account for the Department of Transportation (DOT) divided a seemingly AI-generated drawing of Schumer and Jeffries in Disney princess dresses in front of Cinderella Castle to mock the “No Kings” protest movement. The White House’s official X account re-shared the DOT’s post, which was captioned “No Kings!!” contained.

Separate from the shutdown, California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) trolled the Trump administration with AI-generated photos and videos. On October 2, Newsom’s press office shared a picture of it Marie Antoinette with Trump’s face.

Days later, the office shared a picture of Newsom Statue of Christopher Columbusboth wear sunglasses. The picture resembles a similar one shared by the White House for Columbus Day.
