Columbus, Ohio (Wcmh) – The former football coach of the state Ohio, Jim Tressel, was selected to replace Senator Jon Husted as the state governor.
Governor Mike Dewine announced Tressel’s appointment during a press conference on Monday, almost three weeks after Husted Sworn in the vacancy of the Senate on January 21st From the newly opened Vice President JD Vance. Tressel must now be confirmed by the representative and Senate in Ohio before taking on the role that could come this week. Both chambers are in the meeting on Wednesday.
“Jim Tressel, I trust his judgment. He is a born leader,” said Dewine during the announcement on Monday. “He informs this vision for the future of the state of Ohio, he has the ability to contract people.”

Tressel was born from 2014 to 2023 as President of Youngstown State University. Before he became the administrator, from 2001 to 2010 he was the Youngstown State Penguins and the state of Ohio State Buceyes from 2001 to 2010.
Tressel led the Buckeyes in 128 games to 94 wins and brought the state of Ohio to three national championships. In 2002 she won against Miami in the Fiesta Bowl. He won AFCA coach of the year, Eddie Robinson coach of the year, the Paul “Bear” Bryant Award and the Woody Hayes Trophy in 2002.
The 72-year-old resigned as head coach of the state of Ohio in 2011, after some of his players supposedly exchanged memories such as jerseys and championship rings in exchange for services such as tattoos and car rental companies.
“I appreciate the nomination of President Tessel by the governor, who dedicated his career as a guideline of our youth both as a trainer and in the classroom as a college president for the Gridiron,” said Rob McColley, President of the Senate of Ohio . “I look forward to hearing more from Jim Tessel, while the Senate fulfills its confirmation tasks, as it was instructed by the constitution of Ohio.”
