Charleston, WV (WoWK) – Governor Patrick Morrisey announced the following novel employees in an release from his office on Tuesday.
Department of Homeland Security
- Douglas P. Buffington II – incumbent secretary of home protection security
- Immediately effective, Buffington becomes an incumbent secretary of the agency. In his role as a manager of governor Morrisey, he is currently responsible for questions from the Ministry of Homeland Security. Buffington will serve in both roles during the meantime. Buffington was previously deputy attorney general under General Prosecutor Morrisey.
- James Canaday – Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security
- Canaday has almost 25 years of experience in the law enforcement authorities and currently serves as state law enforcement officers for the western virginian governor’s motorway security program. Before that, he served in a series of positions in the Sheriff office of the Raleigh County, including Sheriff and Chief deputy.
- Robert Workman – Director of the Fusion Center
- Workman is a retired West Virginia State Trooper with almost 28 years of experience. He is currently head of the West Virginia State Police, which was assigned to the Task Force of the FBI Joint Terrorism.
- David Kelly – Commissioner, WV department for corrections and rehabilitation
- Kelly is a member of the West Virginia House of Delegates, who represents the 6th district. He spent 20 years in law enforcement agencies and worked in the Tyler County Commission before running for the legislator.
West Virginia Parkway Authority
- Dwayne “Chuck” Smith – Managing Director
- Smith became director of the Schools of Kanawha County in February 2022, after working as an Executive Director of Facility Planning since 2018. Previously, he was President of Quatro, Inc. and has extensive experience in monitoring immense construction projects and management of providers and consultants.
Health authority
- Heather Glasko-Tully
- Glasko-Tulli is a nurse in the West Virginia FQHC family. She spent thirteen years as a nurse in a hospital in West Virginia and was the former deputy chairman of the delegate committee for health and staff of the delegate in West Virginia.
- Doug McKinney
- McKinney is a retired doctor who worked as a boss of urology in Clarksburg, WV, VAMC for ten years and worked for four years in the Health Policy Committee of the American Urological Association. He is the former president of West Virginia State Medical Association and the WVU Medical School Alumni Association.
- Robert Chren
- Cheren is Senior Counsel at Empower Oversight and used to work as a special assistant to the Attorney General of West Virginia.
Lawyers’ Commission
Governor Morrisey appointed three lawyers to the Commission:
- Michael P. Donnelly
- Charles Town, Jefferson County, for which June 30, 2031 ended. Donnelly is the Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel for Cub for growth and an extraordinary professor of law at Regent University.
- D. Luke Furbee
- Middlebourne, Tyler County, for the term ending on June 30, 2031.
- Marc E. Williams
- Huntington, Cabell County, for the term ending on June 30, 2031. In his career, he was responsible for more than 100 legal proceedings and a calling.
Three public members were also appointed to the Commission:
- Jeff Lyon
- Pipestem, Summers County, for the term ending on June 30, 2031. Lyon is a native and long -time resident of Summers County. He worked in the construction and equipment repair business, including the possession of a immense equipment repair business for 21 years. From 2016 to 2023, Lyon was also chairman of the Republican Executive Committee.
- Jason Huffman
- Charleston, Kanawha County, for the term ending on June 30, 2031. Previously, Huffman was operations director of the West Virginia Republican Party and a political analyst in the Senate of the state of West Virginia.
- Gwyneth M. Capehart
- Winfield, Putnam County, for which June 30, 2031 ended. Capehar is an 8th generation West Virginian and comes from Winfield. She is an older honorary student at Marshall University with plans to receive a doctorate in occupational therapy.
