I always thought Harris Faulkner was great. She has the perfect demeanor for what she does; She is brilliant and sophisticated. She has a pleasant tone and seems pretty unflappable. She’s a professional in every sense of the word, and I admit one of my informal career goals is to sit in the middle seat on her show “Outnumbered” just once.
You have to admit, that would be a real career highlight.
Turns out Harris Faulkner is also pretty darn good at fact-checking when someone has one. This time it was about Donald Trump’s stance on abortion laws, and that was the subject of Harris Faulkner’s fact check former DNC spokesman Jose Aristimuno.
Trump has said He repeatedly refused to sign a national abortion ban, calling it a decision for the states, but also admitted he would refuse the pro-abortion Amendment 4 referendum in Florida and told Fox News that it went too far. Faulkner asked Aristimuno about Trump’s efforts to reach out to women, including a City hall which aired on Fox News.
“Well, look, I’ll just tell you, Harris, if you want to pass a national abortion ban. His running mate, you know, candidate Vance has said he wants to–” Aristimuno said.
Harris just wasn’t having any of it. She gave Aristimuno control of his barely existing logic center.
“But Jose, you know he denied it,” Faulkner interrupted. “He denied it over and over again, and by the way, if he had wanted to, he would have done it – he would have done it when he was already president.”
Former President Trump made his position on this issue perfectly clear, but Democratic spokesmen seem unable to get the message. Or, more likely, they’ve internalized it, but it doesn’t fit their Orange Man Bad narrative, so they lie about it.
Trump called for a Florida law that restricts abortion after the sixth week of pregnancy, when a fetal heartbeat can be detected, “too hard” in May 2023, drawing criticism by Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis, who ran against Trump for the Republican nomination.
Republican Sen. JD Vance of Ohio, Trump’s running mate, said the former president would do so veto a nationwide abortion ban in August.
You see, this is not necessarily about abortion; Donald Trump appears to have more moderate views on this issue – and on this issue, former President Trump has also repeatedly said that thanks to the Supreme Court, where he belongs, he is now an elected representative in the various state parliaments. This is the Constitution, this is federalism, this is also the 10th Amendment.
No, the real problem is this: Why do the Democrats, from Kamala Harris down to the lowest-ranking intern, remain X-Poster and Bloviator? lay about it?

MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace is “devastated” and says voting for Harris is an “emergency.” For whom?
Donald Trump has made his position on this issue clear. He’s probably getting tired of trying to reinforce his point of view. You can hardly blame him; He keeps saying what he’s always said on the subject, and as far as the Democrats are concerned, it’s complete nonsense.
And that’s why Kamala Harris appears to be losing this election. All that’s left in her campaign is screaming “Nazi!” “Fascist!” and lies about Trump’s stance on abortion, one of the very few issues on which Kamala “Queen of Word Salads” Harris is ahead of Trump in the polls.
Lying doesn’t look good. That’s not a good tactic. But the Democrats carry on. Apparently it’s all they have left.
I remember the story of the man who answered an ad for a donkey for sale. The farmer who sold the donkey assured the buyer: “This is the most docile animal in the world. Just tell him what to do and he’ll do it.” So the guy pays the farmer for the donkey, then grabs the donkey’s head and says, “OK, donkey, come with me.”
The donkey doesn’t move. The buyer pulls harder. “Come on, donkey!” The beast stands still. Finally the farmer snaps his fingers. “I’m forgetting one thing.” He goes to a pile of wood, grabs an SUV, goes back and hits the donkey with a powerful blow right between the ears. “Now try it,” said the farmer, and the donkey actually obediently followed the buyer. “I forgot,” the farmer called after the buyer as he led the donkey away, “first you have to get his attention.”
Is this what it takes to get Democrats to stop lying? What does it take to get these donkeys’ attention? One wonders whether even the double whammy of losing the election is enough.
