((The hill) – Harvard University says that the attitude of faculties and employees freezes in the middle of financial “uncertainties” that are driven by the Trump administration.
“Universities of the whole nation are exposed to considerable financial uncertainties that are driven by rapidly changing federal politics,” said President Alan Garber in a community message on Monday.
In preparation for the “broad spectrum of financial circumstances”, the school decided to “implement a temporary break for employees and faculties throughout the university”.
Garber emphasized that the break is momentary, but could take as long as the end of the semester.
Positions that are of crucial importance for the fulfillment of financing obligations are taken into account on a case-by-case basis, and the management in various Harvard schools is asked to “examine discretionary and non-salar expenditure, to rethink the scope and time of the capital renewal projects and to take over a strict review of new several years of obligations”.
The announcement takes place after the Trump government said this is the case Revoke 400 million US dollars Federal financing to Columbia University due to the alleged inactivity of the Ivy League School against anti -Semitism and threaten to take more.
The administration has also threatened to achieve funding for schools that are practicing for diversity, equity and inclusion, but not yet specifically pursued the universities through the programs.
While the universities have largely not spoken publicly against the threats for university education, Garber told the Harvard community that the management of the university “is working hard to work for university education in the capital of our country and beyond”.
Harvard was also a goal of Republicans because of his treatment of propalestinic protests and anti -Semitism on campus, with former President Claudine Gay, partly due to her treatment of the problem.
