Washington overpopular leader of a US Senate Committee, who dealt with health policy, spoke alarm with the leadership of the country’s highest public health authorities after President Donald Trump had released the director of the centers for the control and prevention of illnesses and other high-ranking officials.
The Republican Senator of Louisiana Bill Cassidy – Chairman of the Committee on Health, Education, Work and Pensions – was published on Wednesday on social media that “top -class descents require monitoring the Help Committee”.
Cassidy asked the advisory committee for immunization practices separately to postpone its meeting in September indefinitely.
“Serious allegations have been raised for the meetings, membership and a lack of scientific processes for the now announced September -Acip meeting,” Cassidy wrote in a statement. “These decisions affect the health of the children directly, and the meeting should only occur if the meeting was carried out by a significant supervision. If the meeting proceeds should not be legitimized in the face of the severity of the accusations and current turbulence in the CDC leadership.”
Vermont Independent Senator Bernie Sanders, a ranked member of the committee, called for a cross -party study of the reasons Trump fired Susan Monarez as CDC director less than a month after confirmation of the Senate.
Sanders said that the director of Health and Human Services, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Monarez, and the handful of high-ranking CDC officials who have resigned this week should be able to publicly testify to what happens in the agency.
“We need executives of the CDC and HHS who choose to improve public health and have the courage to work for science, not for civil servants who have spread fake theories and disinformation in the past,” wrote Sanders.

The Press spokeswoman of the White House, Karoline Leavitt, said during a briefing that Trump had the right to dismiss Monarez, and he expects that he would “very soon” choose a fresh candidate.
“The statement of her lawyers has made it clear that she did not match the president’s mission to make America well again,” said Leavitt. “The secretary asked her to step down. She said she would do it, and then she said she wouldn’t do it. So the President shot her what to do.”
Kennedy should testify to the Senate financial committee next week, the chairman of the committee, the Republican Mike Crapo, on Thursday.
Kennedy “has dealt with the underlying causes of chronic diseases at the head of the health agenda of this government,” wrote Crapo on X.
Cassidy Key vote for RFK
Cassidy was a significant coordination to confirm Kennedy as director of HHS, which monitors the CDC, although he expressed concerns during the entire process that Kennedy’s earlier statements about vaccines were not based in reputable medical research.
Said cassidy during A floor speech in February After Kennedy’s nomination agreed that Kennedy assured him, he would “protect the advantage of public health”.
“If Mr. Kennedy is confirmed, I will use my authority of the Senate Committee with the supervision of HHS to attempt to regain access to the public to life-saving vaccines without iron-known causal scientific evidence that can be accepted and defended before the mainstream scientific community and before the congress,” said Cassidy at that time. “I will carefully observe on efforts to mistake public fear of vaccines between confusing references of chance and anecdote.”
