Here’s how your county voted for the governor of West Virginia

CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) – Attorney General Patrick Morrisey is facing Huntington Mayor and Democratic candidate Steve Williams and Mountain Party candidate Chase Linko-Looper for West Virginia’s governorship after winning Tuesday night’s primary.

Morrisey ran against former delegate Moore Capito, businessman Chris Miller, Secretary of State Mac Warner, Mitch Roberts and Kevin Christian. The Associated Press called the race just before 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, with Morrisey receiving 33% of the vote.

The closest person to Morrisey was Capito, who received around 28% of the vote. Miller received 20% and Warner received 16%.

Here’s how every county in West Virginia voted for the Republican governor

Morrisey won 34 of West Virginia’s 55 counties, with Miller winning 11 and Capito winning 10.

While Morrisey won overall, Miller and Capito won the western part of the state, with Miller capturing the westernmost counties of Boone, Cabell, Lincoln, Logan, Mason, McDowell, Mingo and Wayne, according to the state department.

Capito won West Virginia’s most populous county: Kanawha County. He also captured Harrison, Jackson, Lewis, Marion, Putnam, Randolph, Roane, Upshur and Wyoming counties.
