I know I’m not the only one who says this was the longest 76 days in recent history. Since Donald Trump won the presidential election quite convincingly on November 5th, those who voted for him – and probably even many who didn’t – have been looking forward to the “peaceful transfer of power” that will take place today, Monday, January. will take place on 20th 2025.

It was fascinating to watch a president who seemed to spend most of his presidency sleepwalking—those moments when he would suddenly wake up and start screaming anyway—suddenly spring into action in the final days of his term and makes all sorts of decisions, orders, pardons and strange proclamations.

It was equally fascinating to see the fresh president assembling his Cabinet and preparing to get started immediately and implement his agenda – an agenda that more than 77 million Americans voted for and that even more Americans appear to be eagerly awaiting.

President Trump is expected to sign over 200 executive orders on Monday. Here’s what to expect

So far, the celebrations, rallies, balls, etc. appear to have been a success, even though Mother Nature has forced the ceremonies and parades indoors. While many of those who traveled to DC to attend the inauguration festivities are undoubtedly disappointed that they cannot do so as originally planned, the overall mood in DC appears to be celebratory and confident. We certainly pray that this remains the case even after Trump is sworn in.

Something we all need to remember is that from the moment Trump takes the oath of office, the clock will be ticking. He is only guaranteed two years of an all-Republican Congress to work with, and with the margin in the House as slim as it is, there is little room for error. He can’t afford to lose the plot.

But we can’t do it either. This is a fresh era – a unique opportunity – and one that we must not squander. And while the left and legacy media appear to have moved a little less resistlessly toward Trump 2.0, we shouldn’t assume that means they’ll let up on their evil tricks. Our job as voters – as Americans – is to apply our power (largely our votes, which thankfully are far less restricted than they once were) to advance the America First agenda.

Sometimes that may well mean holding the Trump administration and/or Congress accountable. Especially in the swamp, it is far too effortless to become distracted and stray from the righteous path. One of the center-right media’s main tasks will be to lend a hand those we elected stay in.

That’s why we should definitely apply today to celebrate. To reflect on what it took to get here and be cheerful about it. Have fun seeing it all – and for those with tickets in DC, attend the inaugural balls and get your feet moist. But then it’s time to settle in and start working.
