As we reported, the 1,500-page continuing resolution on funding the government negotiated in the House met a fiery demise Wednesday afternoon/evening after numerous Republicans and Donald Trump, Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy attacked the measure for attempting to waterlog it had people with bloated spending and J6 committee warm provisions.

It didn’t take long for Democrats to start whining, and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) was at the forefront:

Trump ally and He didn’t disappoint:

Chip Roy is annoyed by uncontrolled spending and freebies in ongoing solution

Musk had more:

Our ward Clark likes to regularly remind us of our ever-growing debts, and for good reason:

From Wednesday it is US national debt — a measure of what U.S. taxpayers have been charged with paying the country’s creditors — had reached $36,189,345,826,140.62 and was rising rapidly with no signs of slowing. The federal government’s budget deficit totaled $1.834 trillion in the recently completed fiscal year, making it the third largest in U.S. history.

As we reported, Trump and Vice President-elect JD Vance also criticized CR’s proposed spending increases, Democratic giveaways and warm provisions for government censors and Liz Cheney.

It was a mistake and needs to be fixed now. Meanwhile, Congress is considering a spending bill that would provide favorable provisions to government censors and Liz Cheney.

Trump and Vance blow up spending bill full of “freebies for Democrats” and Mike Johnson goes feeble

The president-elect all but dared Republicans to allow a government shutdown rather than bow to Democrats who are unable to make demands – or impose their will – after November’s elections. Bonchie from RedState summed it up well:

The time to fight is now. With the next elections still years away, the political risks are largely non-existent. If Trump is to succeed, he cannot begin his second term with his hands tied behind his back, particularly when it comes to accountability for those who have weaponized the government for partisan political purposes. I have nothing personal against Johnson, and I readily admit that he has a tough job with such a slim majority, but he can’t just give in here with this CR. If the Democrats want to overthrow the government, then leave her.

Let the Democrats whine all they want; It was your turn and it will soon be over. Even with a narrow GOP majority in the fresh Congress, which is scheduled to begin in 2025, the GOP will have control of the Senate and the White House, and there is no reason to simply carry on as before.

It’s time to drain the swamp – and this is a good start.
