Less than a week after Senate Republicans declared their intention to block the Democrats’ agenda in response to the administration’s apparent operate of weapons against former President Donald Trump, Republicans in the House of Representatives are now doing the same.
Speaker of the House Mike Johnson (R-LA) revealed a “three-pronged” strategy to deal with attempts to manipulate the government to target the former president and influence the outcome of the upcoming presidential election.
Three people, two Republican lawmakers and a source familiar with the plan, told Fox News Digital that Johnson’s strategy to curb the “mafiaization” of the Justice Department rests broadly on three pillars: oversight, appropriations and legislation.
Johnson informed Trump of the plan before announcing it at the House Republican conference, Republican Rep. Ronny Jackson of Texas told Fox News Digital.
Johnson confirmed his approach during a press conference immediately after the meeting.
“We will do everything in our power to address the problem appropriately. And I announced at our conference this morning that we are working on a three-pronged approach,” Johnson told reporters.
“We are looking at different approaches to what can be accomplished here through the appropriations process, through the legislative process, through bills going through our committees and being submitted for passage, and through oversight. All of these things are being vigorously pursued.”
Republican Rep. Ralph Norman of South Carolina told Fox News Digital that the plan “cannot be just words” and that “it has to include actions.”
Last week, Senate Republicans signed a letter vowing to obstruct Democratic legislative initiatives, a rebuke to President Joe Biden and others involved in using the government to target Trump.
To that end, we will 1) not allow any escalate in non-security funding for this Administration or any appropriations bill that funds partisan litigation; 2) vote for the confirmation of political and legal appointees of this Administration; and 3) not allow expedited consideration and passage of any Democratic legislation or action that is not directly related to the security of the American people.
In a post on X, Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) declared that “strongly worded statements are not enough” and insisted that “those who have turned our justice system into a political cudgel must be held accountable.”
Strongly worded statements are not enough.
Those who have turned our justice system into a political weapon must be held accountable.

The details of Johnson’s plan are not yet known, and Republicans in the House of Representatives may not be able to operate legislation to curb the government’s instrumentalization because Democrats control the Senate and the White House.
Republicans in Congress have strongly condemned the verdict against Trump in the Manhattan trial and vowed to take action as Democrats seek to rig the election in Biden’s favor through the judicial system. In a sign that voters are paying attention, the former president has now raised tens of millions of dollars since his conviction.
