Washington (AP) -The US education department is already reduced by reducing the Trump administration and will come to a standstill due to the government’s closure.

The department states that many of their core businesses will continue at the start on Wednesday. Financial support from the federal government will continue to flow and the payments of student loans will continue to be due. However, investigations into civil rights complaints will stop and the department will not result in any recent federal subsidies. According to an emergency plan from the department, about 87% of its workforce will be assessed.

Since taking office, President Donald Trump has called for the reduction of the educational department and said that Liberal thinking had been overlooked. The agency’s managers have planned to adopt its business activities to other departments, and in July the Supreme Court confirmed mass efforts that halved the department’s employees.

In the event of a shutdown, the administration proposed that federal authorities have completely eliminated more positions. In previous shutdowns, the holiday employees were brought back as soon as the congress restored federal financing. This time the office for management and household of the White House endangered the mass firing of federal workers.

The Minister of Education Linda McMahon, who appeared in May in May in May in May in May in May in May, suggested that this year’s layoffs had made their department too slim – even slim in some cases. Some employees were brought back, she said after the officials found that the cuts were going too deep.

“They hope that they only cut fat. Sometimes they cut a little muscles and they recognize it as they continue their programs and they can bring people back to do that,” said McMahon. The department had about 4,100 employees when Trump took office in January. It now has about 2,500.

Here is what the department is doing and how a shutdown is expected to influence this work.

Federal loans

One of the main tasks of the department is the administration of the Federal credit portfolio of 1.6 trillion dollars. Study aid will be largely untouched at brief notice, according to the department’s shutdown plan. Pell grants and federal loans will continue to be paid out, and the borrower of student loans must continue to make payments for their debts.

According to the department, around 9.9 million students receive a form of federal aid, which are distributed at around 5,400 universities. Within the office of the Federal Student Aid, the department plans to spark 632 of the 747 employees during the shutdown, although it did not say which. In most student loans, borrowers work with loan servers who were hired by the department and not directly with FSA employees.

The department will continue to process the free application for student assistance or FAFSA. This is an vital part of the auxiliary packages for incoming students. Certain employees who are involved in the regulations of changes to the student loans and part of the “A great beautiful legislative templates” adopted by Republicans will also continue to adhere to the deadlines specified by the legislation.

Money for schools

While American schools are mainly financed by state and local money, the education department serves as a channel for billions of dollars to go to federal and local education authorities. During the manufacture, the department will stop recent grants and pause its advisory and regulatory role in schools and subsidies.

But because most federal grants in schools were granted in summer, the department would say that the school districts and other subsidy recipients would only expect a minimal disorder of the school districts. Title -i money that continues at schools with high concentrations of students in poverty and the financing of the law on the formation of disabilities in the event of a closure.

Not all federal education funds come before the school year. An example is Impact AID, a program that reduces the school budgets in areas in which the federal government or other activities such as military installations reduce the amount of the taxable property in order to achieve income for the district. These schools will probably be disorders in payments. According to a national association that represents these schools, more than 1,200 districts receive this assist in all 50 countries.

If the shutdown lasts longer than a week, the department would revise its emergency plan to prevent considerable disorders from the school districts.

Civil rights examinations

As part of the closure, the department will post its investigation at schools and universities due to alleged violations of civil rights.

The office has operated under a significantly reduced footprint since the mass enthusiasm in March. The department of the department lost about half of its staff. The cuts raised questions about whether the office would be able to reduce the deficit of complaints from students who claim that they had experienced discrimination due to breed, gender or disability status.

The department’s own data has shown a decline in the solution of civil rights cases, while recent complaints have increased from families. During the shutdown, the work stops in the pending cases.
